Methylisothiazolinone in cosmetics alert!
I thought I'd highlight the preservative methylisothiazolinone that's increasingly been used in cosmetics in the past couple of years because it can cause skin irritation, rashes and dermatitis:
The preservative – known as MI – was used in a wide range of moisturisers as well as make-up and baby wipes. Dermatologists linked it to a steep rise in allergies known as contact dermatitis, where the skin becomes red and itchy and can sting and blister. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/10...allergies.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01nn42v If anyone has suffered skin irritation problems from a cosmetic then it might be worth checking the ingredients list to see if methylisothiazolinone is present which could be a possible cause. Fortunately, it looks like this noxious chemical is now on the way out. |
