I Won't Watch Strictly in 2014 unless ...

I have become disenchanted with Strictly this year and am seriously thinking of giving up watching it unless

- Anton and KFG are dropped.
- Ditto Bruce.
- Ditto Len.
- The choice of music improves, with fewer pop tracks and the pros having more of a say.
- The pointless VTs are eliminated.
- The rules on what is and isn't allowed in each dance are re-established.
- The judges are more consistent in their marking and uphold the rules.

I reckon that'll be enough to be going on with ....

Then you will be watching X Factor next year, whilst the rest of us enjoy Strictly.

I would be delighted with all of your suggested changes.

I know from experience though that most if not all will not happen and I will continue watching anyway (just as I do Project Runway)...

I think not, XF beating Strictly in the downmarket stakes several times over.

OP I would like to say I won't be watching next year unless certain changes are made, but I know I will keep watching. The most I can manage is to not let the show dictate what I do on a Saturday night and sometimes watch it later on iPlayer!

I think all the points you raised are more than justified and would improve the programme.

BIB I'm not getting the love for Kevin at all. What's the favourite phrase this year?...I just can't warm to him at all, and I think his choreography is pants. Just my opinion...

I wonder if the people who say they dislike KFG are fans of the Jordan's by any chance?

He won't be going anywhere, and neither will Anton. Anton will only leave when he wants to, someone has to partner the token older lady and be happy to do so.

Honestly people start threads like this every year and they are nearly always back. The show is going very well in the ratings so clearly they are doing something right. That being said, I do think it's time Bruce called it a day, he's struggled more than ever this year. Other than that I'm happy with the show as it is, yes the judges marking is sometimes all over the place, but it's only an entertainment show. Don't take it all so seriously!

I'll keep watching, too, but I do agree. Basically I'd like all the changes made to the program to be reversed. It really was better in the beginning, I think (I've been watching since halfway down series 2). The DO should go, too, so the public always have the major say in who goes. And one of the most ridiculous things, imo, is that the pros don't get to choose the music! Some of the music in this series has been completely inappropriate for the dances that had to be performed to it. That's just unfair to the couples.

Oh, I didn't get who you meant by KFG, but I disagree with that point! I really like Kevin.

I don't mind Anton. I think there needs to be variety in the line up of pro's and he is different to the others. I also hope Erin is back after her baby arrives. (Diitto Vincent and Flavia)I can live without the mindless VT's, the poor music choices, the style over substance and Bruce. But this years ratings were good so I am sure the Beeb think they are on a wining formula.

I have found this series to be very manipulated by the producers to an extend that it no longer seems fair on the contestants or pros. It has spoiled my enjoyment of the show.

I will probably give the next series a chance but should it be the same I will give up watching. I won't be watching x factor either.

As much as the VT's and Bruce etc. are annoying I find then less irritating than the producer interference in the music and themes.

I doubt whether there is a single person appearing on the programme who someone does not like.

Why not just change everything and start with a blank sheet? I can't see that happening with one of BBC1's most popular programmes.

Most certainly not a Jordans fan but I think Kevin is the worst pro dancer ever to have been on Strictly. He over dances all the time and his choreography hasn't been good. Don't dislike his personality just his dancing.

I don't like anton, Karen or Kevin or aliaz or janette so rid of all of them

BBC needs a feedback. Write them complain. They only have those letters and viewing figures to go by.

Would be great for a refresh of the rules for each dance. Nearly every week me and my Mum have watched it and gone - are they allowed to do lifts in this one?

I'd also like to go back to when they there was only two dance styles each week. One ballroom and one Latin just as a personal preference of the shows format.

I'm not a dance expert so go by the dances I enjoy and can find the judges feedback interesting, especially when I thought it was brilliant and then they get marked low for not including vital elements of the dance.

Good luck with that. SCD is one of the BBC flagship programmes with viewing figures rising every series, I doubt there's going to be any major changes.

SCD should take notice of what fans are saying, they are riding a high after beating Xfactor this year but if the rumors are true and Simon is comming back to Xfactor next year they should worry

I know Xfactor is manipulated just as much as SCD but watching Simons comments and reactions are more entertaining than Bruce, Len and put together

The producers will think those suggestions would halve the number of viewers, so it isn't going to happen.

Sadly, the viewing figures are all the "feedback" in which the producers are interested.
The total number of people who complain about any programme compared with its total viewing numbers, can always be safely ignored.

Heard of the straw that breaks the camel's back? And if I wish to 'take it seriously' and want the professional standard of something I watch for more than an hour a week to be maintained and not adulterated, then that's my prerogative.

I presume you complained after Series One then, and definitely again after Series Six?

Yes, at some stage I wrote a long letter to the BBC and received a standard bland response. Alas! as others have said, the viewing figures rule. Never mind the quality, feel the width.

The worst Strictly pro dancer of all time? Have you ever seen Anton's attempts at Latin?

I think they made a huge mistake in dropping Ian and Matt, I'd love to know why that happened? None of the current male pros are tall enough for model types.
