Noticed this the other night and it's to avoid another X Factor Xmas number one

Has the X Factor really been as dominant in Christmas number ones as people think? I don't follow the charts so I don't really know.

One thing I do know is that I hate these campaigns. People should only buy a song if they like it, not out of a desire to stop another artist from topping the charts.

As far as I know it has been Christmas number one nearly every year since 2005, apart from 2009, 2011 and last year.

Don't need to. I have the whole Highway to Hell album on CD (as well as every other ACDC album).

Don't agree with this at all. Would rather have a cheesy X Factor ballad rather than a rock song for the Christmas number one. It is week supposed to be rubbishy cheesy ballady tracks.

Surely you only own 'Fly on the Wall' for completest purposes though!

As for this campaign - ACDC are one of the biggest acts in the world, they haven't needed a hit UK single do this - Whole thing seems pointless. Although it's a great song obviously.

Sorry but shouldn't it be a campaign for a christmas song to be number 1?

Sounds like to me people are just picking songs out of a hat. 'That will do'

It's coming across like that to me too, more and more each year.

The Rage Against The Machine campaign... I saw the logic in that one. Not in any others since.

People who join these campagins are every bit as much of a sheep as they accuse buyers of X Factor music of being. It's beyond pathetic.

I was a big supporter of the Rage campaign, but I think these days the main problem with these campaigns is that they are giving those in power the false illusion that the charts still matter.

No one gives a flying about the X Factor these days, plus it's almost like someone saying "I'm a better person than you because a song I like charted higher than a song you like".

Couldn't even name a single number one this year.

Those campains have become just like the new X factor single: a tradition...
Isn't it what they are fighting against though? If the #1 Xmas single switches from the X Factor cover to the Facebook campain song, it's just another artificial #1 in a way.

Couldn't agree more. I would rather a song got to number 1 on its own merit and under it's own steam because people genuinely like it and not because someone else is telling them to buy it.

Then no song would get there without promotion.

Listening to the chart countdown now and we're into the Top 10.

As long as AC/DC gets played, they've achieved their highest chart position ever. Which is awesome.

Think they'll be 3 or 4.

I for one am glad that a Rock song is actually entering the charts, which is normally bombarded by dance / r'n'b urban bs or talentless boy groups like 1D or Union Jockstrap that wouldn't know how to play a electric guitar even if it hit in the face, but hey they get sales for getting teenage girls with more hormones than brains excited, despite not being able to sing a note without autotune.

Top 5 for Acca Dacca. Glad about that.

Also means I can turn the radio off now.

Unfortunately Xfactor got it.
I would have preferred Pharell Williams. Much better song.
