Turkey Crown from Iceland or M&S?
So what's the difference between the crown from Iceland at £7 or the crown from m&s at £21.
Is it all a con. Are they from the same place ? I'm being told Iceland crown would be no different to M&S, but I am adamant on an M&S one. Am I being snobbish ? |

Are they both frozen and are either the same (free range)?
I'm guessing even the breed of animal can make a difference, how they were reered to how they were slaughtered? Might be worth a try this year and see what you think |

Seriously you cannot possibly think anything from Iceland is going to be comparable to anything from M&S.

It's not really snobby to suggest the quality of M&S food is far superior to that of Iceland. Yes I have been to Iceland.

I wonder if the Bird was well looked after and meets British Standards of Animal Welfare.

My in-laws had a frozen turkey crown from Iceland last year, it didn't work out too well, as it was in the oven alot of water kept coming out of it, they didn't like the look of it so they binned it, luckily they always do a pork, so they had that to fall back on!!!....Never again will they buy a frozen Turkey from Iceland...

I bought a substantial frozen turkey crown for £5 from my local market. Everything from there has been good quality so far, and has been British.

How wasteful. I always buy a frozen turkey and there are a lot of juices and probably water that comes from it.

Wouldn't one that one special yearly feast to come from Iceland myself.
I've been contemplating M&S vs butchers myself. Plumped for butchers in the end, supporting local businesses and all that. As for the comment above about local market, I wish I had seen turkeys in mine. I got a massive sirloin steak for £3 out of mine the other week and it was the best steak I have ever cooked for myself. |

I find Waitrose meat and poultry of a better quality than M&S so I'll be buying mine there!

In the past we have bought the turkey crown from Iceland and it was fine. It was what we could afford. This year we have a whole turkey (from ASDA I think) and I'm sure it will be fine too.
I've never bought any food from M&S, mainly because I don't drive and the nearest one is about 1 1/2 miles away, whereas ASDA and Iceland are a 5 minute walk. I have shopped at M&S before for clothes, but I find them a bit pricey. Their stuff is nice though. Regarding where the meat comes from, free-range, etc., I don't know how the two places compare. I'm inclined to think M&S probably over-charges because people assume they have better quality. Many people are on tight budgets, food-wise, so it's not feasible for them to shop at the high-end food stores. Iceland kind of has a reputation for attracting 'chavs', but you know, people need to eat, and if they can fill their fridge/freezer for £50, I'm not going to judge them for that. How much groceries would they get from M&S for that amount? |

Some of our shopping comes from Iceland. We'll be having a joint this year though.
