Friends for Life ?

It always amuses me how every series the celebs talk about each other and swear to be friends for life.
2011 with Mark Wright and Dougie Poynter was a classic example.
Mark Wright saying they were like brothers and would be inseparable, etc., but I didn't see much evidence of that.

I think both IAC and BB are an intense bonding experience, and the outside world starts to feel a bit unreal, so only your fellow housemates/ campmates really matter. (Think of the non celebrity Big Brother, where they are locked up together for 10-14 weeks, with no contact at all with anyone else.) They really do think that when a series is over they will carry on being joined at the hip. Then they start going out with their real friends, and it all clicks back.

Which is not to say that real, enduring friendships never come out of RTV shows. Romances, even. IAC has led to a marriage (bitterly divorced); BB has had a couple of marriages - only one still together, but still - and a handful of enduring romances.

This may apply to recently acquired romantic feelings but I wouldn't have thought there'd be much coinage out of friendships.

I don't think we know enough about the former contestants life after the show to know how much they have to do with each other.

Joe swash said on the itv2 show that he was still in contact with a few of his fellow camp mates.

It'd be classed as a 'bromance'. This is the title of a Heat article:

Quote:
“Bromance alert! Robbie Williams and Rylan Clark are just broin' out, they are most ultimate bros”

It lowered my IQ just reading that.

But was that article just a gossip thing? They wouldn't be paid surely??

Whereas if it's a 'new romance' the couple could (sell) do interviews?

I don't think these rags or these 'celebrities' are that picky. Two people that will sell magazines do an interview for reason xyz and get paid because they know fans of them will buy it.

Oh yes, definitely. There have been at least two post Big Brother romances that the magazines must have known were fake before they did the articles, but they still did them. They just like two (preferably good looking) people who are willing to play the game and pose for the pictures.

Friendship is a different thing: no money to be made, so no lies likely to happen. I thought Kian and Joey had a nice dynamic by the end of this year's IAC, and it would be nice to think of it continuing.

I bet they don't ring him back.

Lol. He's 'in contact' in the sense of pursuing their fleeing bodies through the streets.

It took me longer than it should have to realise who you were referring to! I was thinking "Cerys Matthews and Marc Bannerman didn't get married, did they?".

I had a soft spot for David Gest and Malandra Burrows.
