2014:- The Artists to Watch (Official Thread)
Misty Miller http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uksTQ...e42oVEqQgN9LYw Quote:
My name is Misty Miller. I am 18 years old and from South London. Record Label:- Relentless RecordsI sing and play the guitar, writing my own material from a young age. At 15, i recorded my first album and released it in February 2011. Got to work with some amazing musicians including my brother, Rufus, and recorded it at Rak Studios. With most of the material written around the age of 15, naturally, my musical taste and style has grown and evolved into what it is now…. At the moment, i am heavily inspired by the likes of Patti Smith, Iggy Pop and The Stooges, The Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, Irma Thomas, The Sonics, The Midnight Barbers, Popskull, The Gories.. the blues and good ol’ 50′s rock’n'roll. Not to mention my musical friends! I am eager to record the next album and share it with everyone. Until then, come down to a gig. You’ll find me no longer playing the uke though.. i now play guitar and often perform with my band. Introducing Misty Miller:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nccKE...e42oVEqQgN9LYw |

MØ
XXX 88 ft. Diplo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmLMPFXzBLA http://www.momomoyouth.com/ Scandanavian’s are just too good at electro pop, they have been for an awfully long time and that’s not changing anytime soon. Karen Marie Orstead aka MØ (Pronounced Moo) is the latest to journey down the conveyor belt. The Copenhagen singer has produced one of the singles of the year with Diplo in XXX 88. I’ve been banging that record like a rusty gate as well as previous tracks Pilgrim and Waste of Time on myself and Alice Levine’s Radio 1 show. It’s a matter of time before she’s propelled into the wider conscience. Her debut album arrives next year and all being well could see her challenging the likes of Grimes, Purity Ring and MIA for leftfeild pop dominance https://soundcloud.com/momomoyouth |

Marika Hackman
https://soundcloud.com/marika-hackma...ath-is-black-1 I'm not expecting her to dominate commercially but her album will be special! Same goes for BANKS and FKA Twigs... |

Jean Deaux
Jean Deaux’s music is infused with a kind of post-thunderstorm clean slate-ness. Each track hits hard, but with a watery expansiveness that makes playing any of them on a loop hypnotically satisfying. Though her strength is in her icy croon, when she raps she has a certain Lauryn Hill-esque dead-pan flow. Her debut mixtape, Soular System, drops in 2014, so make sure you have a Google Alert on that. -LP Jean Deaux - Grape Soda (Official Video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUn4IvMTrgo https://soundcloud.com/thejeandeaux |

Say Lou Lou
Like a female Hurts this duo who make a sort of transcendent dreamy pop sound hail from both Australia and Sweeden and released their Ep earlier this month to some acclaim. They are backed by a smart label in the French based Kitsune (Two Door Cinema Club, Delphic and Citizen) and they will have an album out in 2014 to make them the greatest sisterly pop duo since the Cheeky Girls. Charlotte OC
Charlotte OC knows how harsh the music industry can be, the Blackburn based singer was picked up and quickly dropped by record label Columbine at a young age, but this has only inspired her development as an artist further. The singer released an EP earlier this Autumn and will be looking to follow it up with an album in 2014, she has a similar singing style to the forementioned Banks although she prefers a full band to help bring her enchanting vocals to the forefront. Just check out the video of her singing live, to see how crazy good she is. Charlotte OC - Hangover http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcoSv9D_920 |

Bo Saris
Jukebox Feat Bo Saris - Little Bit More http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwFb3BHFvJw Bo Saris was born in Venlo, Netherlands, and now resides in London, England. He was the winner of the second edition of the Dutch talent show Idols. Following a series of successful albums in the Netherlands, Bo moved to London to start afresh via a meeting with elusive superstar Bill Withers, after Bo performed at a tribute show in Amsterdam attended by the retired soul great in 2011. His first release, She's On Fire, peaked at number 5 in the Dutch Alternative Music charts in August 2012. The EP release included remixes from Deep House heavyweight Maya Jane Coles and Drum and Bass legend Calibre. Both had a limited vinyl release. He sits well with the recent soul revival wave of Amy Winehouse, Plan B, Jamie Lidell, Adele and Cee-Lo Green. He is featured on Chase & Status 2013 album Brand New Machine on the song Breathing. |

Maini Sorri - an Electro - Dance artist is getting quite big over on the continent, with some airplay in the UK and The States.
Would love to see The Lancashire Hotpots finally get the recognition they deserve as well. After being played on local stations nationwide, in 2013 Chris Evans started playing them. As a result, their last UK tour (nearly) sold out. |

Lizzo
Lizzo feat. Sophia Eris - Batches & Cookies http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQaRQe86suA "Lizzo is one of the most captivating musical forces to emerge here in a long time. Between her work with The Chalice, GRRRL PRTY, and now the LIZZOBANGERS album, she’s got the voice, the flow, and the sass to lead the next wave of indie hip hop in the Twin Cities." - Jim McGuinn, Program Director, 89.3 The Current LIZZOBANGERS is the debut solo album from Minneapolis, MN rapper/singer Lizzo. Having already launched female powerhouse groups GRRRL PRTY and The Chalice to critical acclaim and regional success, as well as recently racking up City Pages 2013 Best Vocalist Award as a solo artist, Lizzo is now stepping out on her own to deliver an album born out of a whirlwind two years of frenzied live shows, dynamic group albums, and countless guest appearances. Packed with explosive rhymes and soulful hooks over Lazerbeak's (from indie rap crew Doomtree) signature bangers and creatively overseen by Gayngs/Polica mastermind Ryan Olson, LIZZOBANGERS is a true breakthrough debut album: an artist’s entire first two decades on the planet bursting at the seems and crammed into an urgent 40 minutes of unrelenting music. https://soundcloud.com/lizzomusic |

Betty Who
This Australian-born, New York-based pop singer released her upbeat debut EP, The Movement, last April. Since then, the 22-year-old — born Jessica Newham — has worked tirelessly to get her catchy melodies stuck in everyone’s heads. It was only after her improbably peppy song “Somebody Loves You” was featured in a proposal video that went viral (over 10 million views and counting!) that record labels came calling. Who will soon join a roster of RCA artists that includes heavyweights like Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Kelly Clarkson. Her second EP is due out in early 2014. The FINAL LIST of Digital Spy's " Artists to Watch" in 2014 will be posted at midnight. You have until then to submit artists who you think will make an impact in 2014!
The entire forum can then vote for the "Ultimate DS Artist of 2014" |
