Wow I really don't know what else to say? Well I guess I can say I like Clara, really glad she'll be in the next series and the way her character's going I may even end up liking her just as much as I like Martha, Donna and Jack (my 3 fav companions) if not more.

Well that's pretty much it really, hope I made sense.

Well i don't think i was around in your pre-lurking days, but from what I can gather : basically Matt left such a significant impression on you, well seeing him onscreen - basically it was like the cat got your tongue?

Actually I think this attitude is completely normal and almost all fans feel this way. We are all going to miss Matt, yet look forward to Peter. I still miss Tennant, Eccleston, McGann and McCoy (he was my first Doctor). As well as this I wish we could have had more of Hurt. I don't want anyone to go.

It's only human nature to grow fond of people you see a lot of on screen (even villains). I'd go one further and say that in my case I just love all people and they could put any man in the role of the Doctor and after a year or two I would totally love and miss the actor. I am quick to love people.

That does pretty much sum it up for me! Matt Smith really has left the bar high for future Doctors IMO, will miss him and I wish him well for the future he deserves it.

As for Peter Capaldi I'm sure he will be OK, I've seen him in so many other stuff and know for a fact the guy can act so we'll see.

Be pretty funny if his Doctor does end up like Malcolm Tucker though!

Good to see I'm not alone in missing Matt Smith but also looking forward to Peter Capaldi, I guess this Fanbase is a lot more accepting than people give it credit for (but then again Doctor Who is always about change anyway so it'll be a bit silly if the Fans WEREN'T so accepting.

And I completely agree about John Hurt he was amazing as the tragic War Doctor (then again John Hurt is amazing in everything he does) and whilst I would've loved to have seen more of his War Doctor, I do think in his case less is more.

From an outsider's point of view, the fans do seem relatively loyal to whoever is the current Doctor, because they accept that actor as The Doctor. Doctor Who is a show of eras, so it's a bit like New Year's Day. We're sad to see the old year go but we're full of anticipation for the year ahead.

Also, because the actors play the role in different ways, you do not feel as if someone is trying to imitate your favourite Doctor.
