Quite. Very skilled and I am sure many enjoy the spectacle in addition to all appreciating the skills demonstrated. But different to the sort of dances that appeal to me.

Sort of like the Flavia / Louis showdance last year - and I'm a Goddess Flavia Fan.

I thought this was a thread about Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch.

Women once had to ride side saddle, not to satisfy the sensibilities of women, but to satisfy the sensibilities of men. Similarly in another culture women have to wear burkas ...

Thank you! Off to track it down for a comparison now (this is exactly what I love about this place).

Yes! I described Pole Art style dance as like Exhibition Show dance, but solo, earlier

It's certainly a lot easier to make an impression if you go for the big lifts and tricks... Bringing this back on to Strictly, one of the things I liked somuch last night was the emphasis on dance* in Natalie and Artem's show dance.

*as in, on the ground taking steps, dancing

And the punchline is?

"Women can do what they want"?

Sure. But I have the right to say what I like to look at and what I don't like - without objecting to anybody's right to perform in any way whatsoever.

I have no problem with anybody doing anything at all unless it directly harms somebody else. So I object to cigarette smoke in my presence but have no issue with hard drugs consumed or sold or anybody dressing in any way whatsoever.

Men have a sensitivity to womens crotches. I mean women once had to fight to wear trousers.

For me it wasn't about Sophie's crotch it was just she didn't have the strength to flatten her body. I seem to recall Abbey doing something similar with the routine getting a few tens.

However the dancer in that clip clearly has an excellent musical taste. She chose one of my favourite arie for that dance.

The soprano is Natalie Dessay to get back to SCD's Natalie's dance.”

Pole bit starts around 2 minutes in.

Bringing in dance ...

When I started doing AT classes about a year ago the (female) teacher explained to the followers that the steps across the leader (man) must be with the nearside leg so that her crotch faces away from the man and he can't get a sight of her knickers as she strides across him. Of course those sitting down may get a flash of said knickers.

She could of course have made it all up but it seemed a good way of remembering how to do the "Ochos" / "Figure of Eight"

Ah thanks. Puts it into historical context.

I must have seen that movie (every Christmas time) but don't remember that sequence.

Godets

Godets are somewhat related to Gussets in shape - both being triangular. I suppose also similar to the thongs referred to in this thread earlier ...

Now what happened to JULIEN. HE WOULD HAVE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING ...

Watched the film tonight and when the number came on it was the first thing that came to mind.

Even spookier than that, looked out the window and it was snowing
