When we were in Australia last year we saw the hotel at Southport where they stay, lovely place with whale watching tours, helipad etc. Not really deep jungle or outback at all. In fact we went on a walk in real rainforest and did encounter real dangerous snakes and spiders. Also think that we went to the site where it's filmed and a real tourist place it is.
