The X Factor winner AGAIN! This is getting ridiculous. I don't know why they even bother with it any more as we all know it's gonna be the XF winner anyway.

What does anyone else think?

I read on the XF forum that it's the lowest selling XF winners single ever so maybe it is starting to go away

It's the first Xfactor number 1 since 2010 but I'd still rather it was any other artist.

The X Factor does have four months of hype behind it, so it's not surprising when it charts highly. It doesn't matter who wins, they could have a toilet flush going for three minutes, if it's X Factor promoted, people will buy it.

She'll be forgotten about by Easter anyway.

Interestingly Pharrell Williams was no.1 on The Big Top 40.

Not really, and rather irrelevant.

I don't watch X-Factor anymore but please can they move the show as Christmas Number One is no longer relevant thanks to that stupid show!

I remember back in my youth helping Mr Blobby to number one ... I want a decent battle not a number one by default!

It's not just the X Factor that's made it irrelevant, but also technology. There's nothing to stop people from buying singles right up to Christmas Day, if not on the day itself, so announcing the Christmas no.1 today is just a relic of the almost obsolete high street record shops. I haven't bought a CD in an actual shop in over a decade now.

Good.

Only 12 months before people start complaining about the Christmas number 1 again.

The only consolation is that all the proceeds go to charity

So the ACDC campaign failed? All the better. I like following a band as big as them who has never had a number 1 song.

But at least bloody 'Heatseeker' is no longer their highest charting song in the UK!

Meh. No one will remember that. They will only remember that Highway to Hell, Back in Black and For Those About to Rock are among the biggest rock albums ever. And that Powerage is one of the very best.

They won in 2011 and they didn't get No 1. The Military Wives got it instead.

I haven't heard it, don't know who has won or even what the song is called. Hopefully I can keep it that way

James Arthur might have something to say about that!

Why would he when he didn't get Christmas no.1 last year either? It was The Justice Collective and He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

They peaked a week too early in 2011.
In 2012 James Arthur was number one the week before and the week after but not Christmas week, which was The Justice Collective.
