I want to make the ice cream the Tom Kerridge made last week, but I don't have an ice cream mmaking machine.

I didn't see Tom Kerridge's one, but I saw Mary Berry make ice cream manually. Haven't tried it myself but here's her recipe if you're interested:

You just have to keep mixing it as it freezes - the more you mix it the creamier it will be. If you don't mix it enough it will be crystally and grainy.

Make up your mix, put it in a sealed freezer container and pop in the freezer. Nip through and give it a really good stir every 30 mins (less if you have a good efficient freezer) till it's a nice consistency. It's time-consuming and effort-some but really easy and the end result is always so satisfying

Have fun Andy

Just make your ice cream, chill in the fridge for an hour or two, put it into the freezer and beat with a fork every hour or so to get rid of the ice crystals that start to form. Do this a few times and then leave overnight.

( make sure you use an airtight container to store the ice cream, of course )

My Dad once made a lemon sorbet using this method. At the end of the process he had transformed from a jolly, benevolent man into a raging lunatic, and vowed never to attempt such a thing ever again. But it was a very nice sorbet.
