Here is Janette Manrara

I'll call it a tie. Does anybody else get a look in?

They could have had both in a salsa show dance given that they were both out and their OHs were in the final. With guest male dancers as none of the SCD males would be upto them.

There is so much potentially superb about SCD - and they cut it out to show the dross.

And the wonderful^2 band would be a great showpiece band much better than (almost) every guest artist.

Whatever ...

It has the potential to be so much better, in many areas, but, hey, what do we know.

I found a salsa dance of Janette with Jonathan, a salsa dancer. Unfortunately the sound is muted, but you can see the dance.

Thanks, will enjoy it. I actually don't need the music, I often watch dancing with the sound off !

Of the two I preferred Janette's. But mostly because of the style. They were both fab.

I see that Karen's was a showdance. I'll have to see if I can find a clip of Karen dancing an ordinary salsa, to then compare, but both ladies are fab. Begs the question, why isn't this talent shown on SCD. Such a shame. I don't know too much about salsa, but both these clips look fabulous.

Janette's dances looked more showdancey to me with all those lifts. But I'll forgive them both.

Here is Janette in the next SYTYCD season

(Nice faux English accent in the beginning and ghetto cool at the end so she obviously can act)

Very impressive though, thanks for the clips

The reason I preferred the first one is because it was built more around a Cuban styled basic. This is my general preference. The second one is more stylised (to my eye) Mambo based. Although style lines are blurred for showdances.

But look how both ladies use their feet on the floor. That's the bit I think SCD should be "looking for"

The commentator calls the dance a "Mambo Salsa". And then just "Mambo" after hearing that they were US Mambo champions.

I had to google "Ryan Seacrest" #outoftouch [as they say in the Twitterverse].

"Ladies and Gentlemen - This is Marc Anthony"

Aguanile is very African style. The opening is almost (real) Samba to my ears.

Do you dance to Toto La Momposina and if so what style?

I think Karen her and Matthew won a few national titles together Janette is good but not quite the edge on Karen

Totally off topic, but I'm sure I read ages ago that Ryan Seacrest used to, or does go out with Julianne Hough...?

Love these clips by the way

Those were salsas?

Here's a fantastic specialist salsera - Yanet Fuentes from one of the UK's SYTYCD series (and she's probably pulling punches in order not to show her partner up too much!):

Thanks. SYTYCD just didn't register with me and I didn't watch any of it. I must have been travelling. What a shame. IMHO much better dancing and VTs than SCD.

I hadn't heard of Yanet before now but she appears to be a Shakira back-up dancer - so I have inadvertently seen her hundreds of times ...
