If you want something super intelligent, that picks things up fast, and do that much running week in week out, you will not do better than a border collie. A collie would be in its element cross country running 5 miles several times a week! Few people are ideal for a collie, as when they actually write what they want in a dog, they realise they aren't suitable to the exercise and occupying they need. Your one of the handful of opposites, whose requirements in a dog are collie perfection!!!!

It isnt mean to cage a dog, as long as its not abused, our beautiful lab chooses to go in his little den when hes tired or has a tasty treat.or did u mean leaving it in all day which I agree with, im home all day so Teddy is never on his own more than 2hrs at a time.Another vote for labradods here

Some of the terrier breeds would love that amount of exercise.

That's always a good idea I think as dogs need a safe place to rest however not for more than 2 hours at a time in my experience.

Cocker Spaniel working dog.

I have two they are great and so much fun and full of energy and great with everyone and don't grow to big about 16kilo.
