Good news OP, that you are able to keep him! You need to get him to the vet ASAP if you don't want pet fleas as well!!”

We use it at work, never had an issue with it not working, but it's not super strong, hence why I suggested checking with the vet on best option, if he's infested he'll need something that will work quickly.

I agree talk to your vet about flea treatment. I used Frontline on my cats for a long time (probably about 10 years) and it was fine, then we had one summer when they got some kind of super-flea and the Frontline was just not cutting it so the vet switched us to Advocate and that is what I've used (with no further problems) for the last 5 years. Both of those are spot-on treatments. Bonus to Advocate is that it also treats worms so you don't have to do a separate thing, especially useful as my one cat is a terror about swallowing a tablet!

As for the house there are many sprays etc available but I would probably ask for a vet recommendation on that too as when we had those super fleas we tried no less than 3 various ones from Pets at Home, with no effect. When we went back to the vet and said it was a problem (cats getting re-infested with fleas because we couldn't clear the ones in the house) they sold us one. It stunk but it did the job. Unfortunately I can't remember it's name or I'd tell you.

I hope that you can get him all sorted out and settled happily into his new home.

Natarhi just as a heads up, I use Advocate, and you're right, it does treat against worms, except tapeworm, and you should get a tablet from the vet quarterly to give to your cat, mine is less than £5 between my two cats, so it's not expensive.

Thanks.

My vet has never mentioned that, which is strange as they're usually very thorough. I'll ask about it next time I go to get the Advocate.
