Very odd that Toy Story 3 is not trending at all but Chicken Run still is?

I hope the BBC commission another Wallace & Gromit next year, something fun on prime time that's guaranteed a very large audience. Infact it was the last time a programme other than Eastenders that was the most watched of christmas day. EE has been top rated show of the day for the last 4 years.

I think Twitter is on downtime for Christmas.

Is Twitter on the slow? Have to say Toy Story 3 is my least fave out of the trilogy. It'll be interesting to see what they do in 4.

Toy Story 3 remains as one of the saddest endings I have seen, Andy going off to college and saying goodbye to his toys is a very sad moment, you have to have a heart made of stone to not even get a bit teary at that last bit.

The plan in this house...

17:00 - Strictly Come Dancing (LIVE, BBC1)
18:15 - Emmerdale (LIVE, ITV)
19:15 - ITV News (LIVE, ITV)
19:30 - Coronation Street (LIVE, ITV)
=> me watching Doctor Who (LIVE, BBC1 via iPlayer), lost vote 3-1
20:30 - EastEnders (LIVE, BBC1)
21:30 - Mrs Brown's Boys (LIVE, BBC1)
22:05 - free for all/Sky+ I guess
=> Call the Midwife and Downton Abbey going on record

I think there is a problem with Twitter's trending topics. Fantasia was still trending from yesterday.

My viewing will probably kickstart 8:30pm upstairs with EastEnders then MBB afterwards. Corrie's been quite poor these last few weeks so I won't bother with Corrie. Then bit of Xbox, then off to SS2 for the cricket in time for midnight.

so
8:30 EE (Live, BBC1)
9:30 MBB (Live, BBC1)
10:05 Xbox
12:00 Ashes (Live, SS2)

Downstairs, it's likely BBC1 will be on by default, even if they have no interest in SCD, CTM or DW.

I see we are already getting into the "the ratings for EE were not good enough, BARB obviously had, had too much Christmas cherry to count them correctly" territory.

A lot more people on here today than I expected - Merry Xmas!!
Everyone here is getting their Strictly fix so I have escaped.
Yesterday proves if you put on normal Tuesday programs you get normal Tuesday ratings. Message to the major channels - must try a lot harder.

Twitter has been weird for a couple of days. Programmes from the day before are trending today.

I sense Coro St is going to beat EE in the overnight averages tonight. I just have this feeling.

Against Dr Who, no chance - although would be a big shock if it did.

Not that it's in anyway scientific but my parents being big soap fans, usually, have little intention of them tonight. I remember being at home a few years back and the world stopped on Xmas Day for the doses of EF, CS & EE this year however "EE is far to boring" Corrie is too slapstick and ED too unbelieveable to spend any great time watching. Tonight, for them it's a film and they'll catch up on the soaps "whenever, it doesn't matter if we miss them"

And I just have that feeling that it'll be the opposite. Irrespective of the quality EastEnders churns out during the year, it almost always emerges on top as Christmas Day is very much BBC viewing.

I remember back in 2006 when Corrie was at least a solid million or two ahead of EE, yet the latter won the battle purely because of having a strong lead-in and what with it being BBC.

Doctor Who is arguably the most complementary competition Coro St has faced on Xmas Day in years. Against SCD and CTM, its audience would be kept in check by the older-skewing competition. Now that Coro St is facing a young-skewing show like DW, many of the over 50s will flock to Coro which will bump up its rating.

Looking at these 2006 ratings just before Xmas Day, EE was beating Corrie: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...2&postcount=31

EE has been about 1.5million behind Corrie the last week or so. Maybe a step too far to overturn. Especially with it facing Downton abbey which will keep it in check.

This undoubtedly means EastEnders will now almost certainly win.

Apparently, one third of the population expects to do some online sales shopping/browsing of some description today. That's over 20 million people.

Over twice the number who will watch the top rated show on TV today.

This figure continues to surge each year. When more and more people are getting their telly fix online too or through other catch up/on demand programmes, it's no wonder Christmas Day ratings continue to underwhelm.

Also - it is estimated that 45m hours will be spent web browsing for bargains on Xmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day. This is 9% up on last year.

If these figures are remotely true, that probably should give us all more food for thought than whether EE scrapes 9m tonight (i don't think it will).

I think it will be like this tomorrow:

#1 Mrs Browns Boys
#2 EastEnders
#3 Doctor Who
#4 Call The Midwife
#5 Coronation Street
