I think this Christmas more than ever I've noticed the fast repeats on both the main channels. Practically every show bar the soaps has been repeated on the same channel within about 48 hours, either in daytime or slightly later at night. (sometimes only just after 10 for a show than was on at 9 in the first place)

Not just the main stuff but even throwaway stuff like Len Goodman or Catchphrase was repeated almost straightaway.

They must be saving quite a bit of money on films which would previously have filled all those slots.

I think one of the biggest questions of 2014: What will be BBC One's offer on Q2 Saturdays?

Pretty sure it'll be Let's Get Ready To Tumble. I'm not sure whether BBC1 will pitch it directly against BGT or avoid it.

I was under the impression this was replacing Let's Dance, if it is then it'll only be four weeks

Why did I think they were going to show it after the Commonwealth Games?? I'm sure someone said that??

I must have been lead astray.

It eventually will make a difference though. There's something about the production in terns of writing, direction, character description that seems to suggest the cusp of breaking through the bad press and into much bigger overnights. The introduction of Timothy West will add a touch of acting class into the scenery as well he was very good in amonsgst all those other star names in "Bleak House" in 2005.

People were just tuning in about an hour early and leaving it on the channel that intended to celebrate the coming of the new year.

The build up from 11pm onwards wasn't because word of mouth told the public that Barlow is fantastic!

As Score said, it will new high octane gymnastics spectacular 'Let's Get Ready To Tumble' which will be shown on Q2 Saturdays for BBC One. This show will involve Olympic medallists Louis Smith and Beth Tweddle, both of whom will coach some of Britain's most loved stars in different gruelling gymnastic disciplines over a number of weeks. Expect this to air around 7pm while BGT airs at 8pm. It looks like a hit to me.

It has never, ever been stated that it will be a direct replacement for Let's Dance. The Let's Dance replacement has been confirmed as A Strictly Paralympian Special.

Looks like a Splash rip off to everyone else. A blind bat could see that at 2 miles.

With that title it looks like a big disaster.

Splash will be cancelled by the time this airs so it will fill the 'olympic-based sporting event talent show' hole well. The appetite will be there. Louis Smith is very popular with BBC One audiences, he will bring in an audience to the show. Beth Tweddle won Dancing on Ice so she is popular too. I wouldn't write off 'Tumble' just yet.

As Splash is a version of an imported Dutch TV format and "Tumble" is a BBC in-house format, I fail to see how it is a Splash! rip off. Why don't we wait and see what it is about first!

A Splash rip off using a title ripping off a song from two popular ITV presenters, which said ITV presenters used to promote I'm A Celebrity.

I don't think the BBC really thought this one through. At least change the title.

It's more that the similarities between Splash and Let's Get Ready To Tumble are very obvious. The BBC must have realised they would be opening themselves up to criticism.

I'm Worried if it does go Q2, no way will it be able to get a foothold even if it is half decent (Which I highly doubt it will be). Still I urge we give it a Chance.

Still they have a better chance with than than the old pap from last year.

I have an Idea for BBC One Q2 Saturdays for 2015 "Ken's Don't Drop the Raspberry flan" the gameshow in which contestants from all walks of Life have to go through a series of interesting challenges without dropping the Raspberry flan. In the Grand finale at the end of each episode the contestants have to guess the mass of the flan and calculate the exact force needed to launch it into the back row of the audience. This will involve hilarious uses of Trigonometry and a basic knowledge of Force as a vector. The Further they Fly the Better the Prize.

After the final Challenge the contestants get to pick a prize of the Conveyer belt and they also get to take home the remnants of their Raspberry Flan. I would be the host, Tom Baker the voice over and my wife will be my "Glamorous Assistant" which leads to hilarious consequences. To close the show at the end there is a great big sing song that descends into a Raspberry Flan War.

"Ken's Don't Drop The Raspberry Flan" 10x75 mins 7 O'clock BBC One.

Britains Got Talent Eat your Flan out!!

I thought that was in the Sports relief show?

This must be the first time in a long time that the beeb is making more of an effort with Saturday nights in the winter then spring.

On Your previous post, Yes this is the first time in a long time they are trying in january. It could work, The shows placed in january do well and the new shows in the spring do well. It could however mean BBC One are about to have an awful spring. So they need to save to big dramas for Spring I say.

It's risky but just might be the move that's needed to get a hit.

Yes, it is. Which is the common sense way round of doing it, when you consider the respective ratings that are there to be won!

The gymnastics thing sounds pretty awful and very derivative - if it slots in for a few weeks around Sport Relief then fair enough. They can play it for laughs and it at least fits in the sporting theme. Otherwise, it's a pretty poor idea.

BBC1 had a terrible Spring and Summer last year anyway and most of the year after March to be honest. They need entertainment hits and a couple of drama successes.

Timeshift + (or -) tape-checking adjustment + (perhaps most significantly) guests.

Just to be clear, those were very loose guesstimates by me, as I stressed elsewhere in that post.

There have been various numbers posted today for previous New Year Live overnight peaks; these are rzt's numbers which I re-posted two days ago, with the latest one added.

Of course the programme has now changed its name from New Year Live to New Year's Eve Fireworks.
