I dislike the XFactor because of the following reasons:
1. When it was the most popular tv show, Cowell and Walsh were very bad in the way they would knock Strictly Come Dancing and criticise it. Walsh, for instance, said that Bruce Forsyth should be "dead". That's completely uncalled for and those comments left a sour taste in my mouth. Even though XF was the most popular show, they should've shown respect to their rivals and dignity.
2. The manipulative nature of XF is disgraceful. The way the producers leak stories about its contestants to affect or influence voting patterns really is unacceptable. An example of which is when they started leaking bad stories about the voting front runners Janet Devlin and Christopher Maloney, both of whom were cruising to victory. Other ways they manipulate the vote is terrible song choices for certain contestants or poor camerawork, when they have long view shots of the performances in order to reduce emotional appeal between the viewers and performers to result in reduced votes etc.
3. The nastiness of TXF: XF has a negative tone in general, they enjoy dramatically enhancing the failures of certain contestants [for e.g. the white chair round]
4. The impact it has had on Christmas Number 1: this used to be something fun but now every year it is almost a guarantee that XF is going to be xmas #1 which has ruined it for me.
5. The arrogance of Simon Cowell: we all know how cocky and arrogant he is. Always nice to see when he has a failure [Red or Black, XF USA etc].
6. Mocking contestants with mental issues/disabilities: not cool.
7. Rivalry element between the judges: similar to point 3, it just makes the tone quite negative and also it means the judges comments are all biased as they root for their own acts. With this mentoring element, we dont get a 100% fair opinion from the judges, who end up lying in their critiques.
8. Having novelty/joke contestants in the show in favour of good singing ones: the show claims they put the 10 best singers into the live shows and hope one of them wins. But too often, theyve put joke acts ahead of good contestants which has demolished the integrity of the show. In 2009, every single week Cowell used to say publically how he disliked Jedward because they couldn't sing [secretely he loved them though because of their ratings potential]. Then when it came to the judges vote, he saved them over a singer who was much better. Completely made a mockery of the show by doing that.
