Announced today and apparently it is official but do we think he will stick to it and actually disappear for good?

He's going to pull a Beyonce and release an album out of the blue next year, bookmark this.

So is he taking a break or not?
And someone needs to give him a dictionary for Christmas: retiring isn't the same as taking a break to come back later...

I think that he needs a break, so it would be a good move.

But I dislike the way he is going at things once again (it feels very attention seeking, and aren't we all falling for it since we are talking about it? -_-).
Plus what does God have to do with the press & people talking about his current behaviour?

People keep saying this is official but it isn't. No press release has been released at all. They are just going by what he said on twitter.

Hopefully he'll stick to it for good! Then those beliebers will look back at this phase and think "God, what was i thinking? Did i really send death threats to Selina Gomez?"

It's so obviously a publicity stunt.

If he retires I'll eat 5000 cakes in a day.

It's okay everyone, because even if he does, being a Belieber isn't just about the music...it's a 'lifestyle'.

A retirement just like the one Chris Brown says he is going to take, surely.

Perhaps one of the most pathetic ways to promote his "documentary" Believe, which releases in the US today. He will milk his "retirement" news further once his new album comes out.

I hope this isn't a hoax. His music is dreadful and extremely cringeworthy.

Bieber's career pretty much collapsed in the past year. Here's why

1. His fans are growing up. Most of Bieber's fans were just about turning 13 around the time he burst onto the scene. They should be 17 at this point in time. Most Beliebers grow out of him at sometime between 16 and 17.
2. His public image has been destroyed. Bieber's breakdown in the UK, the Anne Frank controversy, and the Brothel incident are just 3 of many news stories that are making him the most hated celebrity in the world, with only Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and Miley Cyrus possibly rivaling him for that title.
3. One Direction has taken his spot in the teen world. Last year, 1D and Bieber were pretty much neck-a-neck as far a commercial success is concerned. However, the first effects of 1D could be see when Bieber had a lower than expected first week of 375k in the U.S. It wasn't until Take Me Home surpassed the sales of Believe, and more importantly doing so in only 7 weeks, that 1D could make a claim to the throne.

Hopefully One Direction will take a leaf out of Bieber's book and retire next year too.

This better not be another joke. If not, then that's a great Christmas present.

No way will 1D end anytime soon. They are doing something no other act from the current generation have been able to do, Sell out stadiums. Its incredible what they have been able to achieve. I'm not convinced their fan base are all young girls either. I think they are growing in popularity with older teens because of their change in music style.

Can't tell if he was being serious or taking the mick out of the stories about it.

One thing that is true is that he's taking a break

Even if it was just a PR stunt, it didn't help his film at the box office at all! From boxofficemojo:

Quote:
“That wasn't nearly as bad as Justin Bieber documentary Believe, which wound up in 14th place with a horrible $1.25 million. To be fair, it was only playing at 1,037 locations, though it still suggests that the "Beliebers" aren't nearly as interested as they were two years ago when Never Say Never opened to $12.4 million.”

I don't believe a word of it.

Well really. Who releases a movie on Christmas Day?

What a selfish little **** he is. If you want to retire from music, please do us all a favour and just do it.

But realise this, most of your fans are young girls, and that announcement was made on Christmas Eve/Day (depending on where you are) for gods sakes! You've probably ruined Christmas 2013 for thousands, even millions of your fans! One more thing to put on the list of why he's such a ****!
