Hello
I have a Panasonic TX32LXD60 which I have inherited. My Gran used it just with Freeview Box without issue.

I now cannot get it to come onto recognise either my Sky Box, or my Sony Blue Ray DVD player via either HDMI cable... I switch the TV on, then the SkyBox on (connected via HDMI1). The TV comes on, says 'please wait', does a long scan for channels, then declares it cannot find any and tells me on the Tuning Menu to insert the aerial.

I then have to press 'AV' on the remote, then the blue button for HDMI on the remote control, before the TV finally realises there's a box plugged into it and I can get it to display the Sky channels.

I thought it was supposed to 'recognise' and switch automatically...please help; I kknow it's supposed to be a decent-ish TV and it's frustrating to have to go through this palaver each time the TV is turned on. Especially for my small children who are used to pressing 'on' and seeing a picture pretty much straight away.

Stuff I have tried already:
On TV settings menu, I have selected 'power on' choice to 'AV;, not 'TV'. Tried this 3 times and checked it saved the option. Made no difference.

I have tried switching on TV first, or Sky Box first. Makes no difference.

I have tried using a Scart cable instead from back of Sky Box to back of TV. Makes no difference, other than the TV scans the same and finds the channel only when I physically press the red button for 'AV1'. (If it's plugged in via HDMI cable, I press blue 'HDMI' button at this stage).

Tried accessing a hidden 'hotel setting' after suggestions elsewhere on this forum. Pressing -/V and TV/AV on remote 3 or 5 times doesn't do anything - I can't access hotel settings.

I'd be most grateful for your help!
Nic

If I recall the Sky box shouldn't be connected to HDMI 1. Unfortunately I can't get at the back of my TV to confirm this because a seasonal up springing of some tree in the living room prohibits access.

There is an HDMI it should be connected to, that is recommended and you are right, Sky on first then TV. Doing it the other way round is variable in success.

However all is not lost, it should say in the manual, it this is missing try the Panasonic site. They are downloadable.

Other way around! The SkyHD box has to be on HDMI1 - it's the only input on a Panny that causes it to switch to a non HDMI-CEC device.

The OP seems to have done the correct things - power on to AV etc. - however I'm curious as to why it's scanning for channels every time its turned on.

After playing with my G20 can I suggest switching to TV, pressing Menu then Setup. Go to Display Settings then Input Labels. You should then see DVB and Analogue. Try setting them both to Skip and see if that makes a difference?

All the OP needs to do to stop the set doing an automated tuning search at switch on is give it a signal to find. Either connect an aerial to the set if it has a digital tuner, if it hasn't or if you have no aerial just connect a lead from the RF output of the sky digibox to the TV.

Make sure sky is switched on first then switch the TV on, it will do an autotune, find the analogue output from the digibox and store it. It shouldn't now autotune at switch on.
