Judging by the trailer Mrs Featherstone seems to have weathered rather better than the much younger Granville.

Jason looks strange these days, has he no top teeth or something ?

I fear it will be a disappointment, as these sequel shows often are, but here's hoping.

I presume Mrs Featherstone is meant to be considerably older than Granville but Stephanie Cole was only in her early 40s when she started playing the part and is actually about 18 months younger than David Jason.

It seems that everybody expects this revival to be rubbish. So nobody will be disappointed and maybe we'll all be pleasantly surprised.

I hope i'm pleasantly surprised but I just can help feeling that it will be a disappointment.

Granville has turned into Arkwright. How disappointing.

I can see this running and running. Now 'Last of the Summer Wine' has been drained dry, Roy Clarke, along with Northern actors of a certain vintage, will need income from this type of pension fund.

She's always looked old, even when she was in Tenko.

The funniest part so far was when he was impersonating Arkwright.

Now that wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be at all. pleasantly surprised.

I wonder if they are judging it as a pilot?

Sign of the times was that the theme tune and titles were sped up. Ah back when they had the time to actually show titles that you could read!

I thought it was nice, nice and gentle like it was, good star cast, slow burning, but funny, nice to see it back.

I wasn't watching, but I've seen still photos with David Jason wearing Arkwright's old brown coat. Has any shopkeeper actually worn one of them in years?

My freesat recorder fail to record this, does anyone know if it is being repeated.

Much, much better than I was expecting. I thought it was going to be hit with the Jason curse, but I found it pretty decent. Nostalgic and funny, with a few references to the'master'. Quite a shock to see 'Thelma' turn up!

Personally didn't expect much and didn't get much!

I know it couldn't and probably shouldn't be compared to the original but when 90% of the story and jokes have been lifted from the original episodes it's just asking for a comparison.

I just felt the whole Granville trying to be Arkwright was too forced and it fell a bit flat.

I wouldn't completely write off a new series if they did go ahead with one, but if Roy Clarke wrote it he would do well not to rehash the old jokes and they need to stop trying to make Granville completely like Arkwright.

5.5/10

But you can't make it different that's the point, nostalgia, there were pleasant nods to the old series,

If you read the thread people liked the impression of Ronnie Bsrker.

Me too. I half expected to see 'Bob' not too far behind

The one area that could have gone badly wrong with this episode was with who they cast as his son, and how that was written

I'd also like to be the first to mention that in the window, it said they sold lottery tickets, but I couldn't see a machine anywhere

I did enjoy the show, and would like to see at least one series, but with Roy Clarke being 83 now, will he really want to write a whole series?

I'm probably more interested as to what could happen if they made new episodes of OFAH
