Well it must have been way too gentle for me because I was bored throughout.


It was all over the place. 10 - 30 second scenes then moved on to something completely different.

It was good that they did have the anchovy paste plot thoughout though.
I instantly spotted those and wondered why that much of that product would be on display.


I thought it was strange that he implied 'reduced' was a banned word but all over there were signs for special offer, 1/2 price, free glass etc.


I also wouldn't like a shopkeep that handled raw bacon and the went on to collect goods for me.

'Only Fools' should be dead and buried as all the horses involved have been flogged to beyond death, although I appreciate that UK Gold wouldn't have anything to broadcast without it.

Everything David Jason touches usually turns to gold. However not this time.

Glad you watched from begginning to end but more surprised then anything.

Comedy is very subjective.

The silly canned laughter throughout was a bit offputting.

It was ok, but there were too many guest star customers - jokes (& recycled jokes) rushed from one to the next. Longer scenes, more Nurse Gladys maybe could have gone well.
The Featherstone bit annoyed me because she couldn't stand Granville let along sex or filth originally

It was okay, but not great, I found it a bit dull. I liked the fact that they had managed to get so many of the originals back though.

Actually Mrs Featherstone wanted Arkwright and gave him the come on a few times. As she was impressed by his meanness, as Granville is now doing the same she again was impressed.

Sadly, this was not that brilliant, I opted for a cup of tea and a clean of the kitchen than watch!

It was poor and they shouldn't have tried to recreate it. Let's be honest, that type of shop didn't really exist when the show was in its prime and to suggest that it would exist in today's world is madness!

If a trader put a simple "A" board on the pavement in our village, the council storm troopers would descend to have it removed, let alone clogging up the entire pavement with stock!

Not sure what your local shops are like, Pete, but I'm sorry to inform you that they do!!! There's plenty of them here in parts of Yorkshire.

They do exist, and interesting enough most comedies you can say are not a real representation of real life, things that are funny do not occur to people all of the time, say some mothers do have them, is someone that accident prone? Are you bring served is that true to supermarkets, Citizen Khsn snd big School, or come fly with me are they true to real life?

It's a comedy, to enjoy it you have to allow some funny bones to work.

BIB He wouldn't use the word 'reduced' because it implies that the product is not selling and needs to be reduced to get rid of it - whereas 'special offer' etc suggests the buyer is being offered a good deal.

Such shops do still exist in a lot of Northern towns, particularly where supermarkets are 'out of town'. a 'convenience' store is just that!

Personally I thoroughly enjoyed it - I did notice the scenes were choppy but that is down to the producer - no doubt convinced that the modern viewer has a 30 second attention span! I think they also wanted to bring as many of the old characters in as they could whilst also introducing new ones.

I found David played the grown up Granville just right - morphed into Arkwright (as I would have expected him too) without losing too much of himself.

I hope they do at least a few more specials. I think it would then be able to have a slower pace and time to develop characters and jokes more.

I loved it and hope it becomes a series.

Massive rating for this show most watched of a Christmas so far.
