Yeah... In a way, I think that's what helped this episode get a reasonably decent response. With awful sitcoms such as Father Figure and The Wright Way, you can tell where they're
trying to be funny, even though they rarely/never manage it.
With Clarke's 'humour', and in SOAH particularly, most of the time it was hard to really tell what was supposed to be funny, so it avoided being noticeably bad by keeping keeping expectations low.
Indeed, you've only got to look at most of the positive comments here, that tend to focus on how it was nice and affectionate and nostalgic... but there seem to be very few references to it actually being funny.
