I have thrush in the mouth and so I was supposed to avoid sugar over Christmas but I caved into my families' pressure saying 'it's Christmas enjoy yourself'.

I have realised that eating too much sugar in one sitting makes you feel terrible for 2 days straight and my thrush is worse now.

We had a Tesco Yule log which as 66g of sugar per 100g, it tasted underwhelming to say the least. Wish we had the Waitrose one which only had 26g of sugar per 100g.

I then had two large bowls of Christmas jelly, a kinder surprise, a Cadbury chocolate mouse snowman, one or two chocs from other people's presents.

I felt incapacitated, too full to move and tired, unable to talk.

Let this be a lesson to ye all. Sugar binges mess you up. I followed this up on Boxing day with a White Terry's Chocolate Orange, I felt so depressed afterwards.

The biology is sugar strips zinc and b vitamins to be stored as glycogen in the body. Also if the body doesn't need carbohydrates it's stored as fat to bring the escalating blood sugar levels down. Also because it takes a lot of energy to do this, you feel more hungry afterwards as your blood sugar levels will be lower than when they started.

As I don't like anything sweet (which I'm glad about) I can safely say no, I didn't eat too much sugar. I did put on 2lb but that was due to beer and roast potatoes!

Yes, I have definitely had an o.d. of sugar, in fact my flatmate and I were just discussing it barely five minutes ago, funnily enough. I treated myself to lots of canned 'full-fat' Coke, Lindor balls, and cupcakes. I dread to think how much sugar I have had, it's disgusting!

Of course I did! Its Christmas!

People are way too panicky about sugar. Yes, its bad for you but just treat yourself and don't be silly with it. No need to avoid it completely.

Plus people with sweet tooth are nicer people with friendlier natures

I didn't really have much on Christmas day. But I have more than made up for it since.

In three days I have eaten a box of 12 Toffefee (spelt wrong), a box of milk chocolate Just Brazils, 6 Ferrero Roche and a walnut whip.

The recommended maximum amount of sugar per day for a man is 120 grams. You aren't suddenly 250*grams*heavier than you were before.

Eating 3 full size mars bars does not suddenly make you 174 grams fatter than you were before without any of it ever coming off whatsoevet.

A mince pie, Christmas Pudding, Christmas Cake and a bit of Yule Log.

So I guess I did but I don't eat them any other time of the year.

I tried eating less chocolate but have ended up just drinking lots of orange juice instead. I need the sugar.
