However the HD7 is more of competitor for the original N7, not the 2013 variant.
On performance and screen quality, the Hudl is way ahead of the Asus. However the Asus cameras (both front and back) are actually usable, whereas the cameras in the Hudl ... aren't. Tried Angry Birds Go characters on the Hudl - won't work. They however work fine on the Asus HD7.
The other one that is worth considering for the same price is the dvent AVega Tegra Note 7. Ignoring the silly name, it is by far and away the fastest sub £300 tablet. And at least on some benchmarks it is actually the fastest on the market. And it is currently around £130.”
I am aware of the Nexus 7/2, as I have one. I posted a comparison chart between Nexus 7 1 & 2 on another thread.
There is an appraisal of the Advent here...

If that's the right one, I can't see that it stands out from the ASUS HD7.
Some of the generic Chinese tablets come with high specs at low cost, the big question is: how long will they last?
ASUS are highly rated by people in the computer world, and their laptops come out tops on insurance stats.
I bought my Nexus 7/2 32gb from John Lewis with a 2 year warranty, but if it hadn't been for the high-res screen, I would have gone for the ASUS HD7 at Currys and taken out a 3 year warranty, which should come out at just under 150 pounds with a bit of haggling over the cost of the extended warranty.
