56.5% of over 22,600 votes.

[url]http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tech/news/a540230/iphone-5s-named-best-phone-ipad-air-is-best-tablet-in-2013-reader-poll.html[/url1. iPhone 5S - 56.5%

2. Samsung Galaxy S4 - 19.8%
3. HTC One - 6.3%
4. Nokia Lumia 1020 - 5.1%
5. Sony Xperia Z1 - 4.5%

Quite strange because the pole I voted on the 5s and HTC One were practically neck and neck a few days ago.

Bear in mind that DS readers polls don't tend to be very representative of the opinions of the more technically astute on this forum

Remember their last reader poll? http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tech/new...am-mobile.html

I've just gone back and checked the pole I voted on and it says the 5s had just over 32% and the HTC One had over 27%. So don't know where they are getting these figures from.

I guess the iOS supporters are in the silent majority here. Most of the more vocal ones seem to get shot down on these forums.

Anyhow nice to see that my phone came in second

I can see how so many like the iPhone 5S it is a solid device. Like the previous iPhones if you don't mind a smaller screen and iOS it is a brilliant simple device that allows everyone to do what they want.

I think Samsung are going have do something special next year if iPhones increase screen size as it is only thing which puts me of getting an iPhone.

A larger screen == A larger phone.

These phablets that are available now are ridiculously large for a phone and impractical as they can only fit in a large jacket pocket.

A 4" screen is large enough, 5" makes the device a bit too big for the phone thing, and anything above that is silly unless it is no longer intended to be a phone, but a small tablet instead.

I think the iPhone is better staying at its current size.

Have you ever actually tried putting a large phone into your pocket?

I don't quite get how everyone seems to come up with the same claim. I've had a phone with a 4.3", 4.8", and 5.0" display, and never had a problem fitting it into any pocket.

I've got fairly small clothes that come with requisitely smaller pockets than most people and even then, the largest 5.0" phone still fits fine even into the *smallest* pockets I have. Hell, it even fits into coin pockets which are *half* the size of the already small normal pockets.

Either small clothes (I'm talking about 30" waist) come with huge pockets or most people haven't actually tried.

You can get a 5" screened phone into a coin pocket on your trousers?

I think 4 inch is slightly to small with the sweet spot being around 4.5-4.9 Inch for a phone. I agree that anything above around 5 inch is to big and looks stupid. I can sort of understand why people want them as they do offer more portability than carrying a phone and a tablet.

Must be a massive coin pocket. The ones in my jeans must be about 3 inches deep and 2 inches wide and I take a lot bigger waste than 30 inches

In my opinion did you forget to add there?

I think personally these days, the iphone is far to small screen wise. I wish apple would bin that fantastically big bezel and increase the screen size within the same package. I have a Nexus 5 with a 5" screen and its superb. Still slides nicely into my shirt pocket when at work.

Just to add, i do not believe these numbers DS has pulled out on this poll!

Do you think they just made it up?

I was surprised by the result, but even the one on this forum shows the iPhone 5s as the most popular.

The DS reader poll has a far larger sample and I would imagine includes a far broader group of users.

As I said, I was surprised by the result, but are you implying DS rigged it in some way?

Maybe fair.

I quite doubt the general public realise that the iPhone is limited by nature and the cheapest to make. This being reflected in its basic spec.

Limited connectivity, low screen resolution, small screen.
(yes we could debate 'small screen' just like 'walled garden')

What limited connectivity? Have you compared it with other phones, in the flesh I mean?

Bluetooth protocol connectivity(e.g. GPS), USB connectivity, HDMI connectivity.
Yes, its often connects to other iDevices fine (proprietary) and also sometimes with a proprietary lead.

In the flesh it is underwhelming though maybe that has much to do with the hyped pedestal it is kept on.
