Do they realize they've nicked the tune to EMF's 'Unbelievable?'

Of course they do. It's a very well-known song.

And they didn't steal it. It's a sample, so they bought it, they paid to use it.

Weeell of course those who used the sample are fully aware. You do wonder if the kids buying these records have a clue though. I find it pretty sad when they don't.

Trust me with YouTube, there's bound to be people writing in the comments about the song it's been sampled from, so they will know and will probably go have a listen.

It was the same with David Guettas 'Work Hard, Play Hard' because it sampled Alice Deejay - Better off Alone.

People were writing on the Better Off Alone video on YouTube that Alice Deejay had stolen from Guetta and obviously people were cracking up and putting them straight.

Its not really a sample if they are just ripping off the whole instrumental arrangement..the art of sampling is taking a 2-3 second snippet of a song and making it into something more.its what all these pop stars fail to realise.

Well, that's what the 'art' of sampling WAS but I'm not so sure now. It might be that the technology is so good or that the composers are so poor?

away from the mainstream that is still the art. not just ripping off the entire instrumental and chorus.

You might need to be old to get this but we were on a work night out and Forget Me Nots by Patrice Rushen came on. One of the younger members of the dept went 'OMG, this song is a total rip off of Men In Black'
