9150T playback problems

I have a 9150T that is just over 4 years old and over the last few months has a problem on playing some recordings, and that is that it “skips” part of the programme that means for about 30-40 seconds the voice is out of synch with the picture and both picture and voice jump forward, I can some times get most of this back by jumping back, but it depends just how/when/where I jump back to as it can take a couple of minutes to retrieve some of the recording but never all of it.
Is this a common problem?
Is there a way to fix it like maybe formatting the HDD?

I get this with my 9200T sometimes: just the first few seconds of some recorded programmes have garbled or absent sound. (I don't know whether this is your problem.)

I don't think reformatting the HDD would help.

May be something to do with the way the box sometimes starts recordings a few seconds late - or is that just the 9200T?

In general, loss of sound sync in any part of a programme is a result of loss of signal quality during recording - you can get sync back by skipping back or going into and out of Pause.

Does this occur on all recordings or only on recordings of particular series of programs? There is a bug that produces these symptoms for certain programs on the 9150/9300 (but not any other Humax product) that Humax have never fixed.

This skipping problem has its own thread(s) on DigitalSpy, and I think your problem is connected with that. It seems, on mine, to have increased as my spare HDD capacity got to 15% and below. Hopefully by watching a bit of the backlog of programmes and clearing some space, it might rectify itself.

The "skipping" problem is evident as well on Channel 4's "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD"; so it's not just a BBC3/BBC problem.

The standard work-around solution to the skipping problem seems to be to switch to the secondary audio channel temporarily, to get you past the skipping point (the audio channel switch button is located under the sliding panel). You will lose audio, so switch the subtitles on so you know what they're saying while you play the secondary channel.

It has never happened during the first few seconds, it can be anywhere else in a playback and not by any means all recordings.

I have tried the "skipping back or going into and out of Pause", as I mentioned in the OP, but can only manage to retrieve some of the audio.

Not all recordings, just now and again, it can happen on a film or other recording, I don't do many series recordings as I don't trust the Auto Tracking to work correctly.

Can't see a "secondary audio channel". Surely subtitles will not display if not enabled on the recording? I don't have them enabled.

The "secondary audio channel button" is on the remote, behind the sliding panel at the bottom. Second row down, second button along.

>> I don't have the subtitles enabled.

You can easily switch them on/off with the button behind the sliding panel - second row down, first button along.

In the event that you are watching a channel that has no 2nd audio channel, you could try a slow motion playback through the skipping point. You wont get any sound or subtitles though.

OK did not know that button did that, that does appear to work, bit of a mess around but I tried it on a recording of Jack Whitehall last night that had the problem @ 2 minutes in and it did display the subtitles so at least the verbals are displayed. Thanks.

As my reply above, I do have the 2nd audio channel, had already tried the slow motion and skip backs but it did not work whichever way I tried, it always lost the video/audio, so even if it worked, it is mainly the audio that is required. Thanks.
