On a different note, the week after next is Dean's trial so I'd expect all the Carters to be in at least some of the week.

I just watched Sam's Johnny storyline and it was pretty boring after the coming out arc.

Ugh...I just really hope they establish Johnny this go round.
I also know that Sam left because of the lack of storylines.
It's really ridiculous that he has had nothing to do, i see so much potential for Johnny as a character.
Crossing my fingers for a fall storyline, he was the main reason I began watching in 2014 so if nothing comes of this return..I'll probably drop it again or do scaled back viewings just to see Ted..I like his portrayal of Johnny..and his voice is very soothing to me lol.

I've been thinking a lot about a love interest for Johnny and things I'd want in this man:

-good looking (I mean...Gianluca was a step down imo, Johnny deserves a hunk! )
-complex
-a bit of rebel (Johnny needs a bit of spice and drama)
-challenging


I'd like for someone to come in and really challenge Johnny's beliefs on law and all that. It's what he works so hard for and it's his pride tbh.

I was thinking that EE wasted the homophobic attack story on Paul and that it would have been better if had been Johnny not killed of course just badly beaten. It could have been a much more compelling storyline focussing on the impact on the victim and the how the difficulty of moving on with the rest of their life. The way they have done it so far has been all about Ben and his issues again and less about the attack

EE have certainly spread the issues around Johnny's peers Whitney (abuse), Lee (depression), Lauren (alcohol), Ben (anger issues/abuse/gay), Abi (broken home/relationship issues), Steven (mental illness) and Nancy (epilepsy) you do wonder what's could befall Johnny that would make an interesting storyline not already covered

Anxiety! Panic attacks, self harm etc. Of course with Lee having depression I don't think they'd do it but it would have been a fantastic storyline for Jonnny in his first stint.

I do sometimes wonder if they'd put Johnny in an abusive relationship. Without wishing to sound like a complete sadist, I think Ted has the sort of face that would really pull on the audience's heartstrings if someone was being psychologically or physically abusive to Johnny, and I think it would be a brave storyline for EE to tackle, especially as the Tosh/Tina one never developed.

The only other thing I can think of is over-the-counter pill abuse as his studies get more intense and he's trying to pull all-nighters etc. But they did it not too long ago with Sharon.

It really comes to something when I used to be like "I don't want anything bad to happen to Johnny" and now I'm actively willing him to be put in an abusive relationship or something, just so he'll have something meaningful to do.

LOL I'm trying my hardest not to depend on the thought of Steven as it seems EE is just teasing us.


And yeah, I was thinking about that as well, Johnny is too perfect as of now...he needs something to help him grow as a character..

Just seen that Johnny is back on screen on 17th August after a six episode absence, presumably as a result of the Babe whodunnit fallout. Coincidentally so is Tom Pepper that episode; as he'll be there to treat Babe I wonder if he'll get a scene with Johnny?

Tom is nice but they would be a dull pairing I think. I bet Johnny will just be an extra watching on in the Babe storyline with nothing much to contribute (unless there is another EE shock storyline and Johnny turn out to be attacker probably more shocking than Bobby killing Lucy because it means he gets a storyline)

More speculation about Mark Fowler Jr will be coming to Walford and someone on the main thread as posted a link to a possible picture of him. Very good looking guy and Mark Jr would be 20 so fits in nicely into Johnny's young adult group. I cannot imagine EE would have two Mitchell sons being gay so I think we can rule out any hook-up with Johnny (mind you would be interesting romantic triangle!)

Yeah I can't see Mark Jr being gay but that would certainly be an explosive love triangle haha. I actually got lesbian vibes from Courtney so I think if they were going to make another Mitchell from that generation gay, it would be her. I'd like it it if she became a full time character and her and Johnny developed a nice friendship. She seems like a potentially lovely character and as she's studying at university, her and Johnny would have stuff in common. It's nice to see more of a focus on the young adult crowd, so long as these new Mitchells don't come in and immediately snap up all the interesting storylines when Johnny is so obviously in need of one.

And if that is Mark Jr then I doubt they'd make him gay or bi as well.
I could see SOC sticking Johnny with Tom and writing them out by next year....but that just may be the strong cynic in me from Johnny's participation since his return.

You've gotta be positive! I think the only way SOC will write Johnny out is if the likes of Danny and Kellie quit. I don't think they'd take away Mick and Linda's family for the sake of it.

No Johnny mention in the early spoilers for w/b 22 August. There is the Carter family going to Sonia's for dinner which might include Johnny

Paul's funeral is not that week so maybe the week after. I assume Johnny will attend and hopefully we get Ben talking to Johnny and saying sorry.

No mention of him in the extended midnight spoilers released last night, either. It looks like the focus is mainly on Linda and Roxy which is right, but I am curious to see how Johnny reacts to all of it.

Aaron Sidwell has given an interview with Inside Soap where he kind of dismisses the Steven/Johnny vibes. However he does at least note there was a big reaction on social media, so we can only hope that SOC is aware of the potential they have there.

Seems like it's not gonna happen.

The fact that they would make a really good couple..
But now I really don't mind an independent Johnny.
But besides Romance..which I don't see Johnny having maybe until like..2017 with the way things are. I really want him to be involved in more storylines that are outside of the carter family/vic.

I don't think it necessarily means it isn't going to happen. It's just that it isn't on the cards at the moment. It looks like they're taking Ben in a different direction now and that him and Johnny won't be getting together anytime soon, and Johnny is clearly in need of a love interest (even if it is just a fling) so I still think Steven is the best bet for that to happen with.

I do get the impression that Aaron Sidwell likes filming with Jacqueline Jossa which is why he's heavily pushing the Steven/Lauren relationship. But ultimately it's not down to him, and as their relationship has been met with a pretty lukewarm reaction, I can't see it lasting. I could be wrong but to me, the "love" he's saying that Steven feels for Lauren isn't really translating in the scripts. It may be that they're just treading water until they can either persuade Ben Hardy back or they recast Peter.

As for Johnny, let's remain hopeful that he'll have a more interesting autumn/winter period.

And IDK.. if Aaron Sidwell is uncomfortable with being intimate on film with another male then I wouldn't want him to do it because the scenes would feel stale to me. Even though he knew his character was bi/gay when he returned due to his last time on the show in 2008. IF that is the case then I'd just like them to maybe bring in someone else. Someone mentioned Mark Fowler Jr and if the kid in the spoiler pics is him then I'd be all for it.

I'm pulling for autumn/winter to be amazing for Johnny especially if Linda will be gone on her break by that time, it'd be nice to build him UP. I say this all the time but Johnny is just a tad TOO perfect for me lol. I want some internal struggle of some sort.

I hope Aaron is over his issues with kissing guys because it would be criminal to have a canonically bisexual character on the show and not give him a male love interest.

Utlimately I want Johnny/Ben to be the main relationship for Johnny, but a fling or affair with Steven would be fantastic to spice the character up a bit in the meantime!

Please don't get me wrong, I didn't mean to imply that Aaron Sidwell has an issue with filming gay scenes when I said that he seemed to like filming with Jacqueline Jossa; I meant just that, that he seems to be good friends with her and maybe doesn't want Steven and Lauren to split up as a result. I'd imagine as a soap actor that there are other members of the cast that you just naturally get on with and want to share your scenes with.

I'm sure that Aaron is absolutely fine with gay scenes, and if he isn't I'm sure he'd be professional enough not to let it affect his work. But I do heavily pick up from his Twitter that he wants people to invest in Lauren/Steven even though people are clearly more interested in Johven.

While we have lull in Johnny news just a quick update on Sam Strike the original Johnny Carter

Still no news on a release date for Leatherface but I think we can rule out a Halloween 2016 release date early 2017 has now been mentioned. No idea if it will get a cinema release but straight to DVD is possible.

Bonded by Blood is listed as being released on 28 September 2016 by Amazon but there has nothing on this film including a trailer so sceptical if this will actually happen. Filming on this film finished I think March 2015 and was due to be released at Christmas 2015 but there were issues with the distribution.

A shame that these two films seem to be struggling to be released and being held up so much makes people wonder if they are any good. Nothing to indicate Sam has any future work and he just seems happy larking around in LA.

Aaron needs to realise noone cares about Steven/Lauren. Noone!
