I'm hoping that Sylvie doesn't leave soo quickly as everyone thinks.
I'd like some Sylvie+Johnny interactions, more of them.
I can't wait til the focus is actually on Johnny.
He's been through a lot yet it doesn't seem to show.

Agreed. And excuse me but I'm going to have a bit of a rant.
I'm actually feeling quite sad about the Johnny situation at the moment, if I'm being completely honest. He feels like a shell of a character and not the one I fell in love with. His involvement in the Ben storyline now seems pointless, especially as next week Louise jumps in to what was essentially Johnny's role; trying to stop Ben from doing something stupid with Paul's attackers. Every scene he's in, he's just a passive character who reacts to what's going on around him instead of being the one to drive the action forward.
I've seen people commenting on the MF that he's lost the sweetness he had when Sam was playing him, and though I think Ted looks and acts a lot 'sweeter' than Sam did in the role, the writing for him is extremely lackluster and as a result he doesn't have the nice moments, the little touches they used to put in for him, to counterbalance his more bratty moments. Seeing him just walk out of Sonia's living room the other day, not giving two stuffs about Sylvie, I just wondered where the hell was the real Johnny?!
I do wonder if a lot of Johnny's original interpretation was down to Sam himself, who said himself in an interview that he had to fight for a decent portrayal of Johnny. I don't think Ted is the type to do that, he's probably just playing him how the script dictates, but the writers obviously don't see him as an important character so it all feels a bit 'What's the point in him?' right now.
I am still pleased to have Johnny back and I think Ted could potentially be a lovely sympathetic Johnny if he was given the chance, but if we're still getting this situation in a few months time where he just isn't being written with any degree of imagination then it will kind of feel like he was brought back for nothing. I really, really hope and pray that the plan for Lee leaving is to put more focus on Johnny and that was part of the decision to write him out, and not a sign of things to come for Johnny as a character next year when Ted's contract ends.
I completely agree with you on the Sonia scene.
That was very out of character of him to just walk out like that.
I'm gonna hang onto hope that it's just for now and that he has something coming up.

That's it exactly. Barely any scenes of Johnny's that we can smile at, that we can get emotional or excited about, just completely insignificant scenes that we're looking for significance in and then being disappointed by.
The main forum is also depressing me at the moment with the constant criticism. I wouldn't care so much if the writers were trying with Johnny's character and it wasn't working, but to see people tear apart Ted when he seems so committed to the role and so happy to be on EE, but is being let down by the poor direction and writing for his character, doesn't feel good at all. The talk of axing has gone into overdrive since Roxy, Ronnie and Lee's announcements and it isn't feeling very good on there.
I'm going to try and have a bit of a break from his place, nothing permanent but a forum shouldn't be making me feel bad... Plus I hate to be negative on this thread but at the moment there's just nothing positive to discuss! I'll talk to you guys soon.

Johnny is not on the cast list for Paul's funeral on 8 September
. On a brighter note he does appear on the 9 September episode.
Not sure if the funeral runs over two episodes but yet again it looks Johnny is being sidelined and you keep asking what was the point of Johnny helping Ben storyline

Thanks Elly. It feels like Ted was not able to attend the filming of the funeral and maybe the scene is just so that they explain why he was not at the funeral.
It will interesting to hear why Johnny did not feel he could not attend the funeral .I assume it is related to Ben and not wishing to see him after Ben verbally attacked Johnny.

My guess is he still feels emotionally affected by what happened to Paul and can't bring himself to face the funerals as it hits too close to home. I agree the practical reasons were that Ted probably wasn't filming at the time but it's good they haven't forgotten Johnny's involvement completely.
It would probably be he does still feel affected, hence why Linda said that Ben would understand the absence.
Ted attended Danny Dyer's wedding yesterday but it looks like Sam did not (he did send a good luck message via Twitter). It would have been nice if the two Johnny Carters could have met

Speculation on the main board that maybe Lee kills himself on his wedding day though I don't personally think they'll go there. It would still be quite a sad and emotional ending for the character but it wouldn't completely close down the opportunity for a shock return in a couple of years time.

. I do agree it is not the best fitting but it might look better when they tidy him up for the actually filming. I know Lee is leaving but I hope we have a nice scene between the brothers and maybe a fun stag nightI just have a feeling that Lee and Linda will be around for Christmas and depart early in the new year. The Vic is always at the centre of the EE Christmas and I just think they need the Carter's together for the run up, and the day itself
That scene between Johnny and Colin was SO GOOD. I'm so grateful to Daran Little for writing such a beautiful and moving conversation between the,. And it gives me hope that maybe SOC rates Johnny as a character to give him a prominent scene with such a massive original character.

It was a very nice surprise to have the Johnny and Colin scene and as you say a beautiful and moving conversation.
It was a shame that we did not have Ben and Johnny meeting but there was so much going on it was one to much to cover. I wonder with Jay gone for a while (I assume he is coming back) that Ben and Johnny will have more scenes

It was really nice!
I'm more positive about Johnny's future, I think SOC is doing a swell job so far so hopefully he does Johnny good and establishes him.

I'm assuming there will be some Ben/Johnny scenes coming up to establish why Harry said in that interview that Johnny and Ben are close as friends. They certainly aren't at the moment so I think you may be right that Ben starts to lean on Johnny again now that Jay has gone (probably temporarily.)

I hope Ben has more scenes with Johnny now. With Jay gone (hopefully only temporarily), he doesn't have any other male friends in the Square.
Johnny continues his one-episode-a-week run next week when he's in Monday's episode but not the rest of the week.
