He's had more interactions outside of the Vic since SOC took over than he ever did with DTC. SOC actually gives me hope for Johnny, and if he does have big stories coming, I'm really excited. I also noticed that his acting has definitely improved - I really hope he's one who'll stick around (as in, for years to come) as he's come on leaps and bounds, and it'll be nice to actually have a few characters from this era still stick around. Plus, Johnny is probably the character that best reflects me on television.

I haven't really followed Sam Strike in recent months but I just had a quick glance of his twitter. I noticed that he's trying to stop smoking (October 1st marked his first week without a cigarette for seven years), so I'm really happy for him. Hopefully, come 2017, we'll see Sam Strike and Ted Reilly a lot more
I find it so strange that DTC, the person who created Johnny 'in his own image', never really seemed that bothered by him beyond the initial coming out storyline. Under SOC, Johnny appears to be blossoming. He has been outside of the Vic more in the last few weeks then he did for months after his arrival. His dialogue is fresh and sparky but not bratty, and he's very easy to like these days. We're even beginning to see more of Ted's comedic abilities and it turns out he's pretty good at it, just like Sam used to be before they relegated him to a background actor. The way he deadpanned last night "Why didn't you just SAY that?" when Kush was talking about 'circusing' (I THINK that's the word he used?!) was great.

I'm hugely excited about the character Johnny could become under SOC but it's still early days yet, and it's worth pointing out that all characters have improved under him, including the ones we know are leaving. However Ted seems very positive about his future on the show so I'm hoping the outcome is good for Johnny's survival.

It's good to see Sam is giving up smoking as I'd imagine it does start to affect your physical health if you're smoking a lot each day, which I think he was. I don't know what the future holds for him and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed by his lack of work so far, but it may be that he has changed his priorities and no longer really feels the need to be acting. I imagine the income he had from EE, plus the couple of films he's done since then, is enough to keep him going for now, and if he's happy that's the most important thing. It would be brilliant to see him in something new but we'll just have to see how it goes.

Another fantastic episode for Johnny tonight. He is really involved with the wider community now, continuing to share scenes with characters he hasn't interacted with before (tonight it was Stacey) and it suits him so well. The moment with Pam at the end of the episode actually made me well up a bit. I'm so happy with the way they're writing him at the moment.

A wonderful episode and I just loved Johnny being part of the Hen party. The Johnny scenes whether it was the funny Beyoncé moves or the touching scene with Pam (and Ted looked so cute with the wave) was so good.

The only thing they did not do which would made it absolutely perfect was for a scene between Ben and Johnny where Ben said sorry for the way he behaved. I am sure it will happen at some point.

I wonder what Johnny has planned for Lee's stag night

What I liked about Johnny being at the hen party was that they didn't go over the top with the whole 'haha, he's a gay man so he's one of the girls' stuff like they did the last time they went to The Albert. It just felt right to have him at the hen party, and he looked very cute indeed in his more formal clothes. I'm a total sucker for the way his eyes crease up when he smiles. The scene with Pam was beyond lovely.

I'm not sure we'll get any acknowledgement of the argument between Ben and Johnny (actually I hesitate to call it an argument as it really was just Ben yelling vile stuff at Johnny.) If we don't get it I suppose we'll just have to accept that it's happened off-screen. I do think there must be some stuff coming up between them as both Harry and Ted have said in interviews that the two of them are friends, but we really haven't seen much evidence of that.

The whole of the last few months (until SOC properly took over), characterisation was really off. Like Johnny's really bitchy remark about Lee's depression. I think that we might have to assume an apology happened off-screen (or pretend it didn't happen a la Johnny and Lee)

Johnny is such a cute wee darling, I love him! He was great tonight and I think we're really seeing that the issue in the past wasn't Ted, it was the writing and the Exec. Now both are fixed and the character can really shine.

Johnny should be on plenty of episodes in the next four weeks or so leading up to the wedding. I assume there is a stag night episode(s) and the build up to the wedding

Aaron Sidwell did an interview with Radio Times and basically said the same thing as Ted. Met SOC, big plans for the (Beale) family and does not know what storylines are coming up:

It does look like EE is moving back to be about families/community storylines and less about gangsters, murders etc which is a good thing if the recent weeks is anything to go by. I am liking SOC's approach so far except the decision to axe Lee which I simply do not understand

Another very good episode by EE and such a sad ending Whitney and Lee were so happy on Friday that you felt tragedy was coming and so it proved

I think we all felt that they would lose the baby since it was announced that Lee was going and with Linda also having to be written out. It seemed impossible to come up with storylines to explain them leaving Walford if there was a baby.

When they mentioned the stag night taking place on Friday I feared the worse as there was nothing mentioned in the previews and Johnny is not appearing.

Yes, unfortunately the signs did seem to point towards her losing the baby and tonight we saw that was the case.

I suspect this is the start of Lee's downward spiral with people starting to blame him for infecting Whitney which possibly caused her to miscarriage. I hope Johnny isn't painted too unsympathetically if that's the case but I suspect Lee will be made to feel alone in the next couple of months which may mean that Johnny supports Whitney and doesn't think about Lee's feelings as much.

It's going to be a difficult storyline to watch.

Johnny has been a joy to watch this past fortnight, Ted has really come into his own and is so natural during his scenes now. He's had so many conversations with people he never spoke to before and been present outside the Vic in locations he never used to appear in. I take this is a strong sign the new exec has big plans for him and I'm so happy about that.

Ted is a gorgeous lil ray of sunshine and I want to watch him for years to come!

Totally agree

Some nice scenes today for Johnny with Whitney and Lee showing his caring side. It was sad to see that Lee rejected Johnny's offer of comfort but I guess that is part of Lee bottling up his emotions as Linda said

Ted was excellent tonight showing his growing confidence in the playing the part of Johnny and dealing with the sensitive scenes very nicely

Yes, agree with you both. Another good episode for Johnny, with his caring and sensitive side shining through. He was also looking really cute again tonight. They seem to be dressing him a bit more age appropriately recently.

I liked his scene with Lee in particular. I hope he gets that hug before Lee goes.

Interesting to see Ben is already looking for a date while Johnny still isn't showing any interest in finding someone. Surely it's Johnny's turn for a bit of a romantic focus, even if it is just hinting at him dating.

The frustrated Ben/Johnny shipper in me wants that relationship to happen, but I know it's way too soon. Give Johnny an interim beau please!

It does surprise me that Ben would even consider looking for someone new at this point. I would have thought it was way too early. Johnny definitely needs some action but I think we've got a few more months of him being single at least.

I don't think he's looking for someone new, but rather it was their way of showing Ben starting to move on. I would like to see Johnny and Ben get closer as friends before anything else developed.

Hi Lux, nice to hear from you! Have you not been watching much EE? It really has got a lot better for Johnny since the new producer took over.

The Whitney storyline is very sad, but it's well written and acted and it's great that Shona and Danny-Boy have been given a chance to shine.

When we had the Mitchell/ Carter feud true to Ben and Hev, I really didn't want a Ben and Johnny pairing. Ben was angry, volatile and ashamed of who he was.

But since Paul's death, Ben has really softened and in time I wouldn't be opposed to a Ben and Johnny relationship under the new EP. The writing for both has been much better (I would still much prefer a full on, trashy affair between Johnny and Steven but I'm putting that one to bed now; I really don't really see it happening!)

Yeah, agreed. I definitely think we've been given some hints that Johnny and Ben are 'end game' - the biggest being the way Pam was smiling fondly at Johnny in Friday's episode, presumably as he reminded her of Paul in that moment and then yesterday when she told Ben he would eventually find someone else. However I would like to see Johnny getting involved with someone not so good for him (which could be Steven or could be someone else) so that we can see Ben show a more caring and mature side as he tries to help Johnny. All of Ben's relationships have been about his issues and insecurities and it would be a positive step to see him looking out for someone other than number one. He sometimes does this with Jay, but his own issues usually overshadow Jay's issues in the end. I think something like helping Johnny see he's in a toxic relationship would be a really strong storyline for both of them.

Hey, Elly!

And I just caught up today.
I'm so disappointed =(
I was looking forward to Uncle Johnny.
I guess this is where the downfall and tragedy begin for the Carters 'depressing' era.

As for Ben, I think they may keep them just friends unless they've changed their minds but it's good Simon pleaded guilty.
I love Ben's relationship with Les and Pam, the story is fleshing out well and it seems..Ben is moving on already? =/
I hear Steven and the beales have a storyline coming up as well.
it's funny because I'm not in a rush to see Johnny in a relationship yet, I honestly want him built up first. The way he interacts with the square is on the right track!
It just spreads possibilities for storylines and his inclusion.

The only thing that's bugging me is the incoming exit of his big bro.
I think I know how things end and I'm already gutted.
