Kind of off-topic but I'm watching this Doctor Who spin-off show called Class on iPlayer at the moment and there is just the most gorgeous and lovely gay couple in it as an integral part of the show and it's really making me feel sad that Johnny STILL hasn't got a boyfriend. For all of DTC's posturing about equality, Paul and Ben were only ever really a plot-device couple, both of Tina's relationships were massive fails, Kyle was just a tokenistic character and Johnny's only relationship was almost entirely off-screen. Since he's come back, he's had three major queer baiting scenes with Tom, Steven and Ben but no pay off whatsoever.
I really feel quite despondent about the lack of care taken with Johnny's character after his initial coming out storyline. He could still be an important character but after a strong start, I'm starting to feel like SOC isn't particularly interested in him either. All I want to see is Johnny in a relationship; it shouldn't be a radical idea to have a young, sexually active gay couple in a soap but it seriously feels like EE is in the dark ages at times. |

I feel your pain, I really do. I am also optimistic though, because SOC hasn't axed Johnny. He cut so many characters when he came in and could have easily done the same with Johnny. That gives me hope that there's plans afoot.
In terms of romance, I still believe Ben is Johnny's chosen love interest (and not just because I ship them). However because of Ben's trauma around Paul and his ongoing storyline around Phil, it's too early for a relationship to start developing. Hopefully that will change in the new year. I totally agree about Class btw, it's a great show! |

I do think the writers can do a gay relationship justice when there's a need to (the last few months of Ben/Paul were lovely, even though it was only because they wanted to make Paul's death more tragic), but it's whether or not there's investment in a couple that makes the difference, for me at least. Class is so good, isn't it?! Charlie would actually have made a pretty good Johnny, IMO. He has the same 'look' as Sam and Ted - nice, kind eyes, pretty features, similar colour hair etc. Him and Matteusz together are so gorgeous. That scene in the most recent episode where Charlie was having a panic attack and Matteusz was trying to comfort him was amazing. Exactly the kind of scene that could be written for Johnny if they ever give him a boyfriend.

The only good thing I can say about Johnny's brief appearance last night was that he looked extremely cute. Other than that, the scene managed to annoy me with his line about Lee being "the sensitive one" of the family, basically retconning Johnny's history in order to fit in with Lee's depression storyline. Very poor writing, IMO.
Johnny now isn't in it until next Friday which is another darts match, so presumably we'll just see him serving behind the bar. |

All quiet at the moment!. Johnny back on Friday and then he is on the cast list all next week except for Friday so hopefully something to look forward to
EE is strange at the moment with exits every week and a small number of big storylines (Lee depression, Phil's illness and Denise baby) rumbling on and not much else going on. There is certainly no attempt to bring in new storylines as well as cast members at the moment I guess that will come in the new year. Sam has posted a still from Timeless which airs in the US in a week or so https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CyIDkwSUQAETaJk.jpg |

It may be that SOC was saving his big ideas for when the new storyline producer started I'm still enjoying EE but I am eager for some new situations, hopefully one of those involving Johnny! I love the image from Timeless; Sam looks great. I saw an advert for it the other day on E4 but by the time I realised what it was, it was already over. |

A cute Christmassy pic of Johnny and Lee to lift our spirits today:
http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/feat...tmas/?slide=28 According to the article, they leave Jack's stag do early as Lee is feeling down, so it looks like they have a bit of a brotherly heart to heart. |

It does not look like the Carters are going to have a happy Christmas day
The spoilers say that Linda receives devastating news on Xmas Eve which I am guessing relates to Elaine (or Olly?) maybe having a serious illness and leads to Linda temporary exit to look after her/him. As Johnny and Lee are at Jack's wedding a week later it cannot be that bad! I was hoping we might get one fairly happy Christmas Day with the Carter family before Linda and Lee leaves but it looks like it won't be much fun in the Vic |

Johnny! They need to take him to the hospital. He did not look well. That ending!

:Remember the Albert attack and now we have Johnny rushing out bravely taking on burglars. Shocking to see Lee more concerned about money than helping Johnny or his family. Well done to EE the scenes were done very well. |

Hopefully they'll mention the break in at The Albert on Monday; Johnny could explain that he rushed in as a result of what happened there.
The scenes were very good; shocking and horrific. But I'm sad that this is the direction they've taken Lee. |

The scenes were very good; shocking and horrific. But I'm sad that this is the direction they've taken Lee. I still cannot get that Lee who was so protective of his little brother (and indeed all his family) would stand by and do nothing when Johnny is being hit by a robber and could have been killed. The fact that he had planned to get himself and Whitney out with no thought to his family and when it was over was more concerned about the wallet than helping injured Johnny or shocked family members is very unsettling. I am wondering if Lee's exit is more likely to be him confessing to the police that he was an accomplice to the robbery and maybe going to jail or being sent for treatment for his depression if the Carter family support him when it goes to trial. If Lee helped with the robbery it was a terrible thing to do but they are a close family and in the end they would surely rally round and support him to get him the help he needs rather than see him go to jail. Johnny for example was prepared to give Ben a second chance and once he realises the extent of Lee illness and he will show remorse for what he did Johnny would want to help him get better and over time would forgive him. |

I agree that Johnny would forgive Lee, provided Lee shows genuine remorse for what he's done. However I do think Lee is possibly suffering from undiagnosed PTSD which has made him very far removed from his family's feelings, and I actually wonder if he'll do something even worse before he goes. The problem is that nobody has recognised what he's going through. It's going to be a very sad last few months for him, I think.
![]() Ted tweeted this yesterday: Ted Reilly @Ted_Reilly14 11 hours ago Had a lovely lunch with the Carter clan earlier. Just a reminder how lucky I am to know and work/have worked with such special people. X I wonder if this was a leaving meal for Danny Boy? If so then we're probably looking at Feb/March for Lee's exit. |

Episode update:
This week - Johnny is in every episode apart from Friday. Tonight's episode he is near the top of the credits. Lee gets the duff duff. I assume we'll have Lee's part in the break-in confirmed as Oz is in the credits. Next week (w/c 12/12) - Johnny is in every episode apart from Tuesday. Friday's episode is Jack's stag do where Lee and Johnny escape early and seem to have some sort of heart to heart. I'm curious about how this will go in light of the break-in. Perhaps Johnny gets some sort of inkling at this point that Lee could be involved? W/C 19/12 - Johnny is in every episode. So lots of Johnny in the run up to Christmas.

Ok, well that was a massive disappointment. No follow up as to how Johnny is doing emotionally. Shame.

The moment something vaguely interesting and potentially character-developing happens to Johnny, they take him off screen and don't have him mention it again. Maybe I'm wrong with this and we'll get some stuff happening as a result of what happened to him during the attack, but I'd have thought they'd have set the groundwork in this episode.

Hey guys, I've been watching and honestly thinking of taking a break.
they're doing nothing with Johnny tbh. Not even giving him a character developing storyline. Hell, I'd take a spicy scene with Ben or Some hobo off the street at this point lmao anything to get johnny some sort of CENTRAL spotlight. Highly disappointed. |
