The main reason I'm still watching is because I am generally enjoying EE again at the moment, particularly the Lee storyline which I feel invested in. If it was as terrible as it was earlier this year, and Johnny was still getting this diminished role, I wouldn't bother I don't think.

It won't be until the New Year when we will get a sense as to whether Johnny will actually get decent screen times and his own storylines.

With Linda gone around Christmas time and Lee sometime in early 2017 they will have to use Johnny or drop him. I would struggle to see the Vic with just Mick and no family apart from Shirley/Tina but it could be what SOC wants.

2017 could be a big year for Johnny with a smaller Carter family meaning they have to bring him forward with a big storyline and romance (Ben has to move from Paul and Johnny would be an obvious love interest) or he will be written out. At this stage I have no idea which way it will go

He's also on the credits for the 26th and 27th.

I have to say this has been one of the most disappointing weeks we've had for Johnny. I genuinely thought he might get a bit of focus following what happened to him during the break-in but there was almost no follow up whatsoever. He hasn't talked at all about how the attack made him feel. Apart from a couple of characters he barely knows asking if he was okay in Tuesday's episode when he came down to the bar, he doesn't seem to have any friends who care about him enough to ask how he's doing emotionally. There wasn't even a reference to the break-in at the Albert which was such an easy connection for the writers to make.

Also he keeps making that suspicious face whenever Lee talks about spending money but doesn't approach him about it. I have no idea whether that's building up to something or whether he'll just eventually tell Whitney and not be affected by it beyond that.

Just lots and lots of missed opportunities. I'm not expecting massive long, emotional scenes with him breaking down every five minutes, but just a bit of shading in of his character so we can get to know him a bit better shouldn't be too much to ask.

Nothing much to report back other than Johnny is in most episodes from now until 2 January including Christmas Day and NYD (Ronnie's wedding) but I suspect it will be support role/extra in the Lee, Ronnie and Linda storylines

I have feeling that Lee may leave in the first week of January as the spoilers seem to be building up to a climax to this story that week (double episode on the Thursday with no spoilers revealed) and I notice that Danny Boy is promoting live singing appearances he is doing in mid-January. Could it suggest he has finished filming and will be gone by this time?

Come mid-January we will have a new look EE with a slimmed down cast and maybe a fresh batch of storylines and cast being rolled out hopefully this will be the start of Johnny actually getting a big storyline and/or a romance.

If Lee leaves at the start of January, Danny Boy would have stopped filming around November time; I get the impression from his Twitter that he left more recently than that. Plus the first week of January will almost certainly be focusing on the fall out of Ronnie and Roxy's exit as it seems certain they leave during Ronnie's wedding on New Year's Day, so would they really have another big exit during that week?

I think that Lee will probably leave in February but I could obviously be way off.

Probably a good time to remind people on here that Timeless starts tonight on E4. Sam's episode should be early February provided E4 shows an episode every week.

Guess what Bonded by Blood 2 starring Sam Strike has been delayed again. Due to be released on 2 January now back to May 17 (as stated on the official twitter account for the film and now showing on Amazon). You do begin to wonder if this movie will ever get released!

Back to EE and there is a small cast list on 3 January including Johnny and the Carter family.

I don't think it will ever be realsed. If they couldn't release it for the lucrative Christmas market then it seems unlikely they ever will. To be honest it doesn't bother me. I doubt I'd ever have watched it. I'm more interested now in whether Sam's TV career in the US might take off, with Timeless acting as a springboard for him. I really hope so.

With the small cast list for the 3rd, and the spoiler about 'some residents learn the truth about recent events', I wonder if this is when the truth about the break-in comes out? I notice that Oz is in the cast list for the 5th so maybe the Carters shop him in to the police.

Last night was another disappointment in terms of Johnny but that is what we have to come expect I guess

I thought we were going to have a decent scene between Johnny and Lee but no we had brief pointless chat and then they left!. I am assuming all they wanted was the shot of Lee looking miserable with everyone else having a good time. Nice of Johnny to look after Lee (I think he was having a good time and would have been happy to stay with the stag night)

They could however have at least tried for something a bit more interesting between the two brothers maybe even Lee showing some attempt of remorse for the robbery with Johnny which we have not seen yet

It's just all been a bit rubbish for Johnny recently. When was the last time we were properly 'in his head' (ie. hearing how he's feeling, where he is emotionally at the moment etc)? I barely think of him as a character anymore because he's just there, not doing anything other than reacting to other people's issues.

With that said, I quite like his involvement in the panto; it's a bit random but he's got a sweet little friendship with Derek and the scenes have a different sort of energy about them which is nice.

Johnny therefore has two Christmas Day appearences and has never appeared in person.

So he must go with Linda who flies out to Spain to be with Elaine who has had a stroke.

It's not like he'd have been doing anything if he was there, but nonetheless it's disappointing.

It's weird he's in the credits for Boxing Day but Linda isn't. Two Skype appearances or does he fly back really quickly? Or are they trying to keep it a secret he's going so put him in the credits even though he doesn't appear? Not sure why they would, though. We know he's definitely back for New Year's Day.

All very strange and it really makes you wonder why his character is being kept on the sidelines like this.

Nice thought but I think we are long way off Ben and Johnny getting together. They have barely talked to other in months and the last time was Ben making a drunken pass at Lee's wedding. If Johnny and Ben get together you can sort of seeing it happen with Linda away with Ben also trying to move on from Paul but it won't be for a little while (if it does take place)

Linda leaves without Olly so Johnny would need to back to help Mick at what is their busiest time of the year. Returning on Boxing Day seems a bit quick but maybe Linda thought Mick needed him more

Imagine if we're just paranoid, and Johnny's just popped to the toilet or something hence him not being in the pictures :P

Still, I think its weird that they're really underusing him. And actually, do we know for sure he's in New Year... Cast lists can lie, and I haven't seen him in any of the pictures. What if Johnny's... been axed! :O

EDIT: Just saw one with him in (and looking dapper). Panic over. He's probably just gone to the loo then :P

If was not for the pictures of Ted at the wedding I would have been worried that he had left with Linda and never returned!. Thankfully Johnny is listed on most cast lists from now until 5 January so we should be fine for now

Indeed we did, although still no scene with Ben and Johnny actually interacting. It's like they're deliberately keeping them apart.

I do like Johnny's role in this panto storyline with Derek bossing him around. It's all quite cute and lighthearted.

I would like to think that a Ben/Johnny romance is on the cards in 2017 but please not the long drawn out way that we have had with Shakil/Bex on our screen for so long which has become so tedious. If this is SOC's style I have this vision of Linda returning in the autumn by which time Ben and Johnny have finally agreed to sleep together

Joking aside there is huge potential of a Johnny/Ben relationship given their backstories/family links which EE could explore and it would be really great to see EE invest in a gay love story as it is something they have not done for a long while. I know this is a bit early to be talking about this but it is about time EE had a big gay wedding and why not Johnny/Ben maybe for Christmas 2017

He makes a cute Shakespearean woman. And it looks like there's some friction between him and Babe. Maybe it will somehow lead to her exit? She must be due to go soon.

Hope this means Johnny will actually have some agency and not just react to other people. Have him actually DO something and have his own drives. Fingers crossed!
