Hope this means Johnny will actually have some agency and not just react to other people. Have him actually DO something and have his own drives. Fingers crossed!
I'm still annoyed he never found out about (or if he did find out, never commented on) Babe blackmailing the Cokers, especially after Paul died. I really think he'd have been horrified by it, particularly as he was so affected by Paul's death, and it would have been some good character development for him to call her out on it. |

I thought J was looking a bit pale and ill this week.

Here's to a great 2017 for Johnny, and also for Ted and Sam! ![]() So it seemed to be confirmed tonight that Johnny goes with Linda. Unless something happens at the start of tomorrow's episode to stop him going, I suspect the only appearance we'll get will be via Skype. However i don't think we'll need to wait too long for Johnny to come back. So while it's disappointing he won't be in any Xmas day storylines, things could be a lot worse. |

Merry Christmas to everyone on the thread
![]() Last Christmas it seemed like fantasy that Johnny would be back at EE so we have had more to enjoy this year then we could ever have imagined. A shame he won't be in the Christmas Day episode beyond a Skype appearance but it appears he returns quickly possibly on Boxing Day. |

So since 2013 (that's for the last 4 Christmases since the Carters were first introduced), Johnny has appeared for no more than 2 minutes. Total tragedy - and this time, there really was no need!!

It is pretty clear until the Lee storyline is completed Johnny won't have much to do but after that? Saw SOC's interview on DS which was mainly about Michelle's return but referred new characters, storylines and surprises in the New Year. I wonder if Johnny is part SOC's plans and will we get new Carter family members. Once Lee and Babe leave it will be pretty empty in the VIc! |

It was a very short appearance, almost comically so considering Johnny's track record for Xmas Day. It's a shame he couldn't have stayed as I'd have liked to have seen him in the Vic with the rest of the community, even if he hadn't got any lines. Oh well. Maybe next year will be the one...

So Johnny returned in tonight's episode, as suspected. It all still seemed a bit pointless why he had to go in the first place but I guess that's where we are with him these days.
I liked his brief scene with Mick in tonight's episode. Despite the usual naysayers on the forum I do think Ted's acting has improved. |

I liked his brief scene with Mick in tonight's episode. Despite the usual naysayers on the forum I do think Ted's acting has improved. The criticisms about the Christmas Eve episode, about how Ted/Johnny didn't console Linda instead still hugged his clipboard, is down to the director. (S)he should have given Ted direction to do something like that and I feel that this was more the reason for the criticism than Ted's acting |

I think his acting is inconsistent, but I feel that's partly because he's struggling to invest in his character. He can't make his mark on the character when Shrimpy has more lines than him. When he actually has something, his acting is fine if not good. But more often than not, he's relegated to a few lines, and that makes it hard for Ted to really engage.

Johnny is on the cast list for 9 January - smallish cast no Lee or Whitney and a mention of problems for Mick.
I really don't know how the Carter family are going to cope with Linda gone, Olly and Sylvie to look after, a pub to run and with Lee and Babe going soon. There is also the possibility that Whitney might be pregnant! Johnny is going to have to go back to University after the Christmas holidays and is going to struggle to find the time to support his family and keep up with his studies. I wonder if he will consider dropping out if Mick cannot cope with everything

I really hope he doesn't drop out, particularly if they continue to use his character the way they've been doing so far - ie hardly at all. Not to mention it would hinder his character development even further. If they had a specific storyline around it then fair enough, but if it's simply to emphasise how much Mick is struggling then I think it would be a really poor decision. But I can kind of see it happening. For whatever reason they just don't seem to like the younger characters getting an education.
I'm intrigued to know what happens on the 9th January. The description for the next episode, where Lee and Whitney are back, is that the Carter's money-making efforts continue, so I assume that it's something linked to Lee's debts, but I wonder why Lee's not in it on the 9th if that's the case. |

Tonight's episode was fantastic. I'm going to miss Lee so much when he goes. I was quite amused, however, by Lee's description of the way he sees Johnny. "Guys fancy him, which is good because he's gay."
I mean, do guys fancy him?! We haven't seen evidence of that for ages! But then all of a sudden there's a random guy eyeing him up at the bar? Does that happen a lot?! Not to mention the line about him having university friends, who we also never see. But still, it was a nice moment, even if it's a characterisation of Johnny that never seems to be explored on the actual show. |

I enjoyed Johnny's scene today, mainly because it was nice to see some acknowledgement that he has a sexuality! Lee really admires and looks up to Johnny, that's plain, I just wish the show had explored their relationship more before Lee's exit. Quote:

I think guys fancy him. Ben definitely does and there's evidence Steven kinda does a bit as well. Johnny is never really shown to reciprocate any advances or flirting though, which is why I was so pleased about tonight's reaction to the random (who will of course never be seen again).

Happy New Year to everyone.
Let's hope 2017 is Johnny's year in EE with a big storyline. I guess it is now or never for Johnny. If they don't/can't use Johnny with half the Carter family gone they might as well let him go. I wonder if the Johnny/Babe "incident" on 5 January is meant to be anything significant with talk of Babe out for revenge on Johnny. Struggle to see it but might be why Babe leaves as Mick would kick her out without a second thought if she tried anything with Johnny |

Yes, Danny Boy and Ted are very sweet on Twitter.
![]() I really wish there was more to talk about with Johnny at the moment. Hopefully tomorrow's episode will be a bit of fun for us, with him actually getting a bit of a storyline. |

After the first half of this episode, its clear that Ted does have potential. Like Sam, he's able to be believable with the family dynamic and was actually able to show emotions, and I also liked how Johnny's darker side isn't being completely ignored. Like how he got Linda to show herself up singing, he got Babe to be ridiculed, again in public.
There may be hope for Johnny Carter... |

I'm a happy Johnny fan tonight. Lots of scenes with him; Ted did well and showed good comedic timing
Hopefully a sign of things to come.

Yes, he was good tonight. Ted really is trying to work with the scraps of storylines they're giving him (literally... pigeon scraps tonight
) It would be so brilliant if they gave him something more substantial soon. Also, his mannerisms seemed quite similar to Sam's portrayal of Johnny tonight. I noticed it in his voice and the way he pronounced certain things. Usually I don't really 'link' the two portrayals together but tonight I did. |
