I agree, I really missed Johnny in the Carter dynamics last night. It's interesting to think about how he would have reacted. I think he'd have kept very quiet and worked himself up into a state about not realising sooner there was something wrong with Linda. Sam would have done a brilliant job with those scenes.

I don't think they will tell Johnny while he's still travelling. If and when he returns, that may be when he finds out, as they would need to explain why there is such bad blood between the family and Dean (not that I think that Dean will be around for much longer, but the last Johnny knew of Dean, he was living happily on the square and the family were all okay with him so he'd probably ask after him.)

Hmm, me wonders if Danny Dyer's daughter and the other girl in the photo are playing two of Sam Strike's character's girlfriends in Bonded By Blood 2, going by this photo and the caption. Would confirm my suspicion of Sam playing a player type character.

EDIT: Just tweaked my post to say playing a player character rather than being, I think Sam's a proper gentleman in real life - I meant his character in the film

Gosh, Sam's hair is short! It suits him though.

It wouldn't surprise me if Sam has some sex scenes in this film. British gangster movies usually have a fair amount of sex, drugs and violence, and I'm sure the director is going to make the most of having a good looking young cast.

At least he has hair unlike the real life person who didn't really have hair going by photos on Google. Sam can grow that hair back into his quiff look that he's got back in the past month or so.

The first film didn't really have any sex so I'm doubtful this will - just babes hard drugs and bloody violence probably. I wouldn't rule it out though.

I didn't see We Still Kill The Old Way but I'm sure I read an interview with Danny Dyer where he talked about how the character that Danny-Boy Hatchard played raped the character his daughter Dani was playing (so many Danny's in that sentence! ) Anyway he said he had to remind himself it was just a film to stop himself from beating Danny-Boy up. So I think he'll probably just about cope with a normal sex scene between Sam and Dani. But I agree, the look on his face will be priceless.

I'm still confused about how this film fits in with the first one. Is it a sequel or does it just share the same name?

Yeah guess that must be weird seeing that, even if it is a film. Plus he knows in himself Sam is sweet as and a true gentleman and if him and Dani do have a sex scene l Danny will probably be more okay with it - still might be a little weird about it though obviously.

I think the first Bonded By Blood was about the original Essex Boys, and this one is about the rise of the new Essex Boys - I think anyway.

P.S. Forgot to say love Sam's smile in that photo! He really has an amazing smile! I miss it on EastEnders

I noticed over the weekend that the first Bonded By Blood is on Netflix so I might give it a watch, even though I don't think I'll particularly enjoy it. It's probably worth watching just to see what sort of tone the second one will have.

And I agree about his smile, definitely one of his best features.

I hope that Sam is okay, his last tweet made me feel a bit worried for him.

It was to be expected that this thread would slowly die as there is not much to really talk about with regards Sam at the moment. It has done well to stay active considering it has been over a month since Johnny left. Don't know what Sam's last tweet was about but I am sure he is fine.

Watching tonight Shabnam mentioned she left to go travelling and returned a year or so later (with the role recast) so maybe they will do the same with Johnny.

Sam has tweeted that everything is going well with the filming and he posted a nice picture of himself as well as a funny video of him skipping on instagram. For the filming he appears to be required to have a small scruffy goatee beard for which he can't wait to lose it but the hair is looking good not too short at the moment.

I have to say I really don't like this current fashion for young guys to have beards especially very bushy beards (such as Adam Barton in Emmerdale) so I am with Sam get rid as soon as possible.

He might of grown it for the role? The guy who plays Adam in Emmers grew his beard when he was off on paternity leave and it seems the EP never demanded for the monstrocity to be shaved off.

Yeah, I had a feeling that he'd grow a bit of facial hair for the role; it seems to be the done thing now for these type of "gritty" film!. I have to agree with popmusicman (and Sam!) that I'm not really a fan of it. I love nothing more than a clean shaven, pretty-faced guy. I'm pleased that Sam doesn't like it, though, as it seems lots of guys his age like to grow facial hair to look a bit older.

I wonder how long filming will take? I can't imagine these types of films have ultra-long filming schedules as they're normally quite cheap to film, so it's possible that Sam will be finished quite soon.

I was happy for sam when he announced he was leaving EE because i new it was his decision and when it was announced he was gonna be in bbb2 At the time I thought it was a good move, playing a character completely different to Johnny And yea its a low budget film but it's his first film so I thought it's a good start for him. But Now I've found out he's in it with a load of reality tv no-marks (casey batchelor and kirk norcross) I'm thinking what the **** have you done!!! sam is a amazing actor he gone from being in the biggest show in the uk acting alongside Danny dyer an kellie bright to a couple of towie rejects who I don't think have ever acted before. I just don't get the logic in it. It's like swapping a Bentley for a 2nd fiesta. I'm starting to think he's just jumped at the first thing he was offered. I'm really disappointed, he's better than this!!!!

Could be his mum or sister for all I know. Or he could have got himself an extremely lucky lady to look after Mr. Sleepyhead during the days between his night shoots of Bonded By Blood 2.

I'm jealous. But also very happy for him. He's a beautiful man so I wouldn't be surprised if he got himself a *she*.

This is the reason why I was a bit disappointed that Sam's first project after leaving EE was a straight to DVD gangster film. They do tend to attract "actors" who can't get anything better, and in Sam's case he could be doing some really interesting stuff which doesn't box him into one category. I would have much preferred to see him go into a TV drama - something like Wolf Hall, for example, which is getting incredibly good reviews but isn't just relying on big names within its casting.

I do worry that maybe his agent doesn't quite realise what a potential star he's got on his books with Sam, as the two career moves that Sam has made in more recent months - leaving EE after only a year and doing this film - don't, to me, suggest he is getting brilliant advice. But at the end of the day, it's Sam's career and he seems to be happy at the moment if his Twitter is anything to go by so all we can do is respect this decision. I just personally hope that after he's finished BBB, he'll do something a bit more interesting and deserving of his talent.

I think people might being a bit harsh on BBB part 2 it does have a credible Director and some established actors so there is some quality to it. I do take the point that working with Kirk Norcross is not something you want to brag about

We have to remember this is Sam's first film so this is a good learning experience and he will have a made some money as well. Sam has mentioned that he is auditoning for other parts but getting roles is not that easy in such a competitive market and it will take time. Taking something like this movie which may have been set up Danny Dyer would be sensible thing to do especially if he has nothing on. Hard to believe that it is around four months since he stopped working on EE.

The actress who plays Maddie in Corrie has quit after a year saying she wants to do new things and develop as an actor. Like Sam a brave move to make for someone so young on such a big show but these things do happen in soaps and fair play to those who are prepared to do it and not take the easy option. I doubt she will get the same flack that Sam got when he announced he was leaving!

I did think of Sam when I saw that the actress playing Maddie was leaving as well. I definitely think it's a commendable thing to take a leap into the unknown and pursue different things when you could just coast in one role for years and years, but I do feel that if I was advising Sam (and the actress that plays Maddie, though I don't watch Corrie), I'd have told him to stick with EE for one more year to build up his showreel and take on some different storylines, working with different characters/actors, before making the break. But that's assuming that Sam left purely to try different roles, which we won't ever know was 100% the case, or whether there might have been other reasons on top of this why he felt he needed to leave.

And I agree that BBB doesn't sound all bad, and I'm sorry if I come across as negative when I talk about it. I do think it sounds like an interesting story which gives Sam the chance to try something new, but I just feel there's a real stigma around these types of films and I don't want Sam to get typecast so early on in his career.

Looks like Sam was auditioning for something yesterday which possibly implies that filming for BBB is drawing to a close. I hope he gets a new project to work on soon.

To follow on from my last post, I assume Sam has now finished filming BBB as he's shaven off the beard.

I'd kind of hoped that the neck tattoo was just a temporary one for the role but it still seems to be there so maybe it's permanent? It's up to him of course, but I can't help but feel that a neck tattoo on an actor is a pretty bad idea as it will always have to be covered up with make-up if it's not required/wanted for a role.
