I don't know why but I was really happy about the kitchen scene in the Vic tonight. They showed the Carter family photo in full for the first time in months in the background. Including Johnny/Sam.

It was nice that they mentioned Linda talking to Johnny on Skype.
Curious they have still have Johnny attending the wedding on New Year's Day. I assume we will get a "Johnny cannot make it" line at some point but odd that they have left it hanging for so long (unless there is another surprise return )

Also he's updated with pics a lot recently, especially on Instagram. Including him meeting Tom Hardy, an idol of his.

So Johnny was too ill to come to the wedding.
It's nice they devoted a proper scene to it and didn't just make it a throwaway line.

The Sun TV magazine today has for the Monday listing Silent Witness as one of the picks of the day accompanied by a nice picture of Sam . I am looking forward to watching this and seeing Sam on screen again.

I've been wondering about Sam's part in the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre film - that must have finished shooting months ago, is there any news of a release date? And more importantly - will his lovely face be covered by the Leatherface mask throughout?!

I can safely say this is a film I won't watch even if Sam is in it. I just cannot watch these types of films and I don't think I want to see Sam playing such a violent character. I am looking forward to see Sam play new roles but this I think would be too much! |

No release date as far as I know. Just a guess but thinking September/October to tie into Halloween period.

I'm with you in that I generally enjoy horror movies and the original TCSM is one of my favourites so there's a good chance I'd have watched even without Sam being in it. I am curious as to whether it will get a cinema release or go straight to DVD, however. |

I thought Sam was great in Silent Witness tonight! Hopefully he's got a bigger role to play in tomorrow's episode as his scenes tonight were quite brief.

I enjoyed seeing Sam on Silent Witness but I have to be honest and say I was a bit disappointed that his character David did not play a bigger role in the story.
The first part seem to be building up to David being the killer and I thought we would see Sam in some decent scenes but he barely appeared in part two (and he only made fleeting apperences in part 1). Overall apart from one angry scene there was not much for Sam to do. Is it just me but was the light blue jumper and white t-shirt Sam wore in one of the scenes the same as the one Johnny wore on Eastenders

I really felt sorry for him at the end; what a terrible family he was from! The flashback scene where he was sat on the floor with his sister in the bath was heartbreaking. ![]() He did dress fairly similar to Johnny and it may have been the same jumper, I'm not sure. I did notice that when his dad was trying to log onto his computer that they used one of Sam's twitter pictures - the one of him rowing - that he posted about a year ago I think.

A little Johnny reference tonight. Nancy said something to do with Mick and Linda going skiing with Johnny and Gianluca.
At least they are starting to reference Johnny in the present tense without it being some out-of-character rubbish excuse. |

It was nice that they referenced Johnny on Sam's birthday. Not sure if that was intentional but it was a cool little coincidence if not.
I notice they haven't mentioned anything about the fact that Johnny only deferred university for a year so he really should be back this month. I guess we're meant to assume that he's deferred indefinitely. |

Linda and Mick returning from their honeymoon mentioning Johnny but nothing much was said other than Linda saying he has settled in well and speaks Italian
They have been no references to what Johnny is doing (studying or working) and Luca only mentioned once and again nothing as what his relationship with Luca is ie friends/boyfriend etc I guess there is no reason why they should say anything and keeping everything blank gives them an easy way for Johnny to return if they ever decide to bring him back. |

Can't really imagine Johnny speaking Italian. Very clear this was a rush storyline for Sam Strike to leave when he did and as suddenly as he did. I guess until I hear Sam Strike speak Italian (if that ever happens) then I just can't picture it. I also can't picture Johnny and Luca being together as a couple, especially after all this time. It was a brief summer romance. Them being best friends makes more sense (not because I'm jealous, but because I genuinely can't picture them as a couple, especially after 18 months). But then theres a lot of offscreen references about Johnny that I don't believe, and though I love Johnny/Sam in retrospect I think aside from being gay and the storylines/drama, that Sam was playing himself (more apparent in the latter half of his onscreen time on the show). Hence why I can't imagine him with singing butlers or going to see Les Miserables often or speaking fluent Italian (though on the latter never say never). |
