Close to 5m for Ross is a decent return, and I would imagine a higher number tuned in at the start for the return and the mea culpa then drifted away over the hour. It was a dull show to be honest, despite the A list guests.

3.8m for QI? That's not too good
QI is in trouble - maybe people saw Pam Ayres last week and said never again!!!!!!
The CBB Final possibly having an impact?

Much of it being in Franglais might have put a few floating viewers off - but 4m is still fair. It was a very good show last night. A full hour of first-run comedy in the BBC1 9pm hour next week might help things.

BBC1 has dumbed down incredibly in the last 10 years. That has impacted everyone and forced ITV to move downwards as well.
You'll have to try harder than that, George...

EDIT: also, "has impacted everyone"? Are you American, by any chance George?

Oh yeah? 4m is good enough at 9pm for BBC1 but not ITV then?

You'll have to try harder than that, George...
as will you.

The only show that did well on BBC1 last night had to get round the clock promotion on BBC "News" all week.

BBC1
19:00… The One Show…4.68m (22.3%)
======================

Oh dear!

Somehow, it seems to manage to attract viewers, so despite the format, despite the main presenter, despite the lack of in-depth anything, it must be doing something right

And on Sky News, and in the papers .....

Didn't catch ITV though.

I think Ross will hold those figures in the coming weeks - particularly as he will only have to battle against Pushing Up the Daisies on ITV...

On Thursday meanwhile it got 5.34m (25.1%) compared to 6.97m (32.7%) for Emmerdale.

The One Show struggles without an EastEnders lead-out.

And for anyone wondering what the alternative Scottish ITV1 schedule is today without The FA Cup:

6:00am GMTV
9:25am wknd@stv
12:05pm ITV News and Weather
12:10pm Scotland Today/North Today
12:15pm Dancing on Ice
1:35pm Dancing on Ice: The Skate Off
2:20pm FILM: Baby Boom
4:25pm Scotland Today/North Today
4:40pm ITV News and Weather
4:55pm FILM: Junior
7:15pm Harry Hill's TV Burp
Oh dear. Of all the films they could have chosen, Junior! For reference, Junior got 1.4m last Summer when it was shown in a similar slot. I'd say that equates to ~150k Scottish viewers, compared to the ~600-750k that The FA Cup would have got, so expect the ratings for the football to be ~450-600k lower than they should be.

Clearly I've got you all wrong, and so I apologise.
No problems, Dancc.

I'd like to apologise too, because I've been so grumpy this week.

Peak 5.1m for Ross.

If only the headline reflected the actual rating.

There will have been a lot of "rubber necking" last night so viewing figures will inevitably tail off to pre-Sachsgate levels.

As a couple of people have said in their posts, I don't think Sky Cops repeats are right for the Friday 8.30pm slot on BBC One.

As they're continuing with the 9-10pm comedy hour, why not use a sitcom repeat as a lead-in instead? My Family repeats might rate a bit better. Maybe they don't want to run any more repeats before the new series starts.

'Tonight' last night ran a half hour 'investigation' into taste and decency on TV, including pouring over the incident again.

I agree.

I think they should have put The Vicar of Dibley on at 8:30, 9:00 QI and 9:30 The Old Guys ... Not sure why the BBC thought putting this on saturday would be a good Idea .. and just leave Not Going Out til after The Old Guys have finished its run

Trinny and Susannah dropped by ITV after ratings for their shows dived
Trinny and Susannah have been dropped by ITV after ratings slumped.

The pair's latest series Trinny and Susannah Meet Their Match flopped with under 1.8 million viewers.

The final episode will be broadcast on Tuesday and signals the end of their £1.2 million contract.

The show's idea was to let "ordinary women" turn the tables and restyle the two stars, but figures show the public did not like it.

A spokesman said: "Trinny and Susannah have been part of the ITV family for several years and are currently two episodes into a three part series.

"Any decision reagrding future programming will be taken in due course."

ITV poached Trinny Woodall, 44, and Susannah Constantine, 46, from the BBC in 2005.

The duo are hoping to find success in the US and have produced a pilot episode for a new show, Making Over America.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/news/...5875-21066296/

It had to happen after the ratings their shows were getting recently.

Looking ahead to Wed 11th Feb, there's an England International Friendly match on ITV1. It's an 8pm kick off so Digiguide currently has the following schedule :

18:30 ITV Evening News
18:45 Emmerdale
19:15 Coronation Street
19:45 International Football : Spain v England
22:00 News at Ten
22:35 International Football Highlights

I think it was more a question of when rather than if with Trinny and Susannah wasn't it?

If this is the plan going forward, it means from next September ITV only loses the Emmerdale / Coronation Street Wednesday doubleheader on Champions League nights, ie:

Champions League - 7.45pm kick-off (programme starts 7.30pm)

England games - 8.00pm kick-off (programme starts 7.45pm)

FA Cup replays - 8.10pm kick-off (programme starts 8.00pm)

Anyone know OFCOM's rules re ITV only having a 15 minute news at 6.30pm? As ITV only has 4 or 5 England games per year, presumably they could get away with it?

Looks like Man U and Spurs will be fielding fairly strong teams after all - so that should get rid of one excuse for poor ratings for ITV and its cheerleaders on this thread.

Shame ITV didn't go for a real classic cup tie like non league Kettering v Premier League Fulham which is currently 1-1, Kettering having equalised. The magic of the cup - perhaps the plan is to boost the ratings for the highlights?

Well, it sounds like the 5.1m peak was during the Tom Cruise interview, so perhaps not.

Have to say, the Beeb hardly promoted the return of JR. I saw only one trailer for the show all week, just before QI last night. Nothing before EastEnders which I would have expected. It's as if the BBC were worried about being seen to promote his return. Perhaps with a bit of a push, it might have won a bigger audience?

Oh yeah? 4m is good enough at 9pm for BBC1 but not ITV then?
It's not often that ITV1 reaches those heights in the 9pm hour any more. Shows in that slot in the past week have reached such dizzy heights as 3.9m/2.4m (Sat), 2.4m (Tues), 1.4m (Weds), 3.4m (Thurs).

They should have asked you. Obviously being physic you can tell what the score is going to be in advance. The rest of us have to take a chance. Hartlepool could have overturned West Ham except for some bad luck & poor refereeing.

How could a non-league side against a Premier League side, at home, not be considered worthy of coverage? Hartlepool aren't non-leaguers.

Agreed that it's the luck of the draw, but Man Utd (at home) v Spurs seem a very safe option, frankly.

Eh? I think it received enough promotion with the coverage on the BBC News website this week, plus all the news channels, not to mention his face on the front of most of the tabloids yesterday - how much more promotion did he need?

Well, it's all about ratings, isn't it? A possible giant-killing for the lunchtime match then a big clash for the primetime offering.

United are the biggest draws-with ITV only having (I think) first and 4th choices it does seem that any possibility of getting United as first choice is going to be taken. The Liverpool Everton tie has more status and many times in the past that would have been the choice.

ITV should do well tonight. The FA Cup tie features Man U and they usually mean ratings and afterwards is Harry Hill so it should get a good lead-in from the football. And even though Demons has been average it should get a boost from Harry Hill.
