Moving Wallpaper is not trashy and for a long time trashy shows like Footballers' Wives and Bad Girls did very well in the ratings for ITV. I couldn't stand them but they were well made and appealed to audiences but they had a shelf life and their time was up. MW deserves to do better.

However the constant desire to give ITV a good kicking is getting boring especially when they try different things & they dont work ratingwise.
What do people want? If they want ITV to deliver minimum 20% share in every slot, it can be done with a mix of soaps, shiny floor shows & detective dramas. Varying the mix beyond that involves more risk and not everything will work as well atr least in the aggregate ratings. From what I recall MW was recomissioned largely because its demographics were better than a lot of other shows on the ITV slate which counts for something.”

I think this forum is more pro ITV than others I've been on. QI should never have been moved from BBC2, putting it out at 10pm is the best time for it, however it still rated higher than Moving Wallpaper. I think many people comment on the ratings performance rather than the quality of the shows on this thread. The Monday night dramas for example have been getting a fair bit of praise on here.
ITV's problem is its over reliance on soaps, ITV used to have a varied schedule until they started stuffing every hole in their schedule with a soap. That is very lazy scheduling and for that I blame Marcus Plantin. ITV's dramas went off the boil because of who they had in charge and not doing what they were best at. If people like crime and sedate Sunday drama give it to them and sod what the critics say.
I like seeing a competitive ITV as it keeps BBC1 on its toes. But this is a ratings thread and if a show does badly or well it will get commented on and then analysed to death about why it rated badly and/or how it could be scheduled better.
You're unwavering support for ITV is commendable but they can't win every slot and if they don't it just has to be mentioned and not brushed under the carpet. This goes for BBC1 as well.
I think Robbie Sykes mentions some of ITV's ratings woes because you're always bashing BBC1. In fact I can't remember the last time you said that there was a good show on BBC1 or Robbie said likewise for ITV.
