Huh? I thought those BARB boxes only recording you viewing if you watch at least 15 minutes of a show? So watching 5 minutes would not make any difference would it?

I agree, I prefer this series to the first two, with a brand new cast. And it's very rare to get this kind of consistency.

I'll tell you now: at my college, it's the most popular show for most teenagers really...and if it was broken down...I'd say at least half of the viewers were around 16-18.

They record minute-by-minute, for share.

BARB use 3 contiguous minutes to count towards "reach" in their weekly stats.
BBC use 15 contiguous minutes to count towards "reach" in their annual report.

Rogue Traders rated really well on BBC1 at 8pm, about 1m higher than I expected. Channel 4 had a very good day yesterday with a 9.5% share - must be one of their best days in months. On the other hand, Five's primetime was poor: less than 300k at 8pm

! E4 is really coming into its own now, basically over 450k from 7-11pm... a fantastic rating for Skins as well. In terms of 16-34s, E4 had a 6.8% share yesterday and beat BBC Two and Five. It wasn't too far off its mother Channel 4, which had 8.2%.

Thursday nights are a haven for teenage programming and E4 really have a firm grip with it. Unfortunately, ITV or BBC1 don't know how to broadcast their comedies to fit with younger viewers. Thursday nights are the night when most teenagers will be watching TV, being a teenager myself. We're all out on a Friday night, so it's very tough for us to watch any of the programming on a Friday night. I tend to record Moving Wallpaper, but only because I know that it's quite good.

Scheduled on a Thursday night, shows like Moving Wallpaper would hold their own. Remember, MW has only aired on Thursday night once, its premiere, when it got 5 million viewers. Since it hasn't gone above 4 million viewers. A hint?

Would Moving Wallpaper rate that much better on a Thursday? I know that the launch got 5m, but it's quite obvious that a lot of the decline is to do with viewers not really liking it. If it was scheduled on a Thursday night, it would probably be getting below the slot average anyways.

How are AIs measured? I've never really known. Am I right in thinking the higher the number, the better the AI?

Oh don't get me wrong, I do think another show should be in the post-Corrie slot. But I don't think MW should even be in the Thursday 9pm slot due to its very poor ratings.

Can't say I'm suprised by the falling audience during Red Riding - it was so slow, grim and depressing in the first half that my wife and I gave up after an hour. We expected grim - just not that boring.

I'd be amazed if it holds above 2 million over the next two weeks. Still, kudos for C4 in commissioning a major UK drama series with some big names.

The thing to keep in mind is that the AI numbers really need to be looked at in conjunction with the audience figures, because the AIs only reflect the views of the people that watched the programme. So, the low probable scores of people that didn't enjoy episode 1 of something wouldn't count towards the AI for ep2, because they probably wouldn't watch it!

In other words, an AI of 85 for a programme with 6m viewers is probably "better" than an AI of 85 for an audience of 1m, everything else (timeslot/channel) being the same.
