Am I right that more people would probably be watching tele on Sundays from say between 15:00 to 17:00 (i.e. mid afternoon) compared to, say 13:00 to 15:00?
The BBC have released the F1 scheduling details, which has the F1 re-run on the Sunday, March 29th down as from 13:00 to 15:00. From a ratings perspective, I think the Beeb have committed an own goal, and really should have scheduled it later on in the afternoon from 15:00 to 17:00/17:30 so more people would have been able to watch it compared to earlier in the day. Had it been scheduled for 15:00 to 17:30, 4m and over would probably have watched it, but now that the re-run is on earlier, I don't see the figures going above 4m (I'd be surprised if it does - unless a British driver wins). Last year, ITV's schedule was [thanks to EmilioLargo for these]: 04:30 to 07:30: 810,000 (54.43%) [Live] 15:00 to 18:00: 3.75m (23.01%) [Re-Run] ~23:45 to 00:45: 305,000 (7.71%) [Highlights] Total Race Audience - 4.86m (full ITV F1 ratings can be found here) I think by scheduling the re-run earlier at 13:00 the rating might be a little bit lower (although I guess the live rating will be significantly higher as the race will be on from 06:00 to 09:00 this year - anything ~1.5/2m would be good for the live broadcast). Also, scheduling it 3pm - 5pm would clash with the Premiership footie on Sky. It's usually at this time on a Sunday that the big games are on, so since they appeal to the same audience, the BBC probably don't won't to be losing viewers to it. |

Interesting article from Broadcast: Dramas are a hit for ITV1 Quote:
Despite ITV1's dismal annual results, its drama output seems to be in good shape.
Remember ITV1's The Palace, The Fixer or Pierrepoint? Probably not, because chances are you didn't watch them and ITV probably wishes it could forget them altogether. |

I mentioned this on another forum but it was great to see the Formula One trailer on BBC1 with the Fleetwood Mac theme at the end.

I think the reason people don't remember Pierrepoint is because it was a feature film shown on the August Bank Holiday last year - not ITV drama.
Also, ITV will be hoping people remember The Fixer since it's coming back for a second series. |

[quote=Agent F;31294833]Two repeats, the lottery, and Casualty. It's enough to drive you to drink.
The BBC and ITV seem to have very different strategies for when to deploy new material, and thus get criticised at different times of the year. The BBC really pile huge amounts of new dramas/comedies/TV films into the Christmas and New Year period, and also into the autumn. Over Christmas and New Year, BBC1 probably aired five to ten times more new material (excluding soaps) than ITV1. Conversely, ITV1 seem to concentrate a lot of their new material in the January to March period, with the result that since the New Year the balance has been entirely the other way, especially in the last few weeks. Now, of course it would be nice if our two main channels had the resources to air wholly new, absolutely massive, new series for every minute of every day. But with both facing some cash constraints - ITV1 because its advertising revenues are in free fall, BBC1 because the Government did not give the Corporation the licence fee settlement it wanted - that is not going to happen anytime soon. As it happens, I reckon we are pretty well served by what we end up with - which is new, successful, series or specials almost every month of the year on at least one of the two main channels (with the possible exception of the summer, when even so both channels still air much more new material than they did 20 or 30 years ago). But that doesn't, of course, stop ITV being slammed for being hopeless over Christmas/New Year and BBC being slammed for not trying in March. |

Also interesting to see My Family taking the Thurs 8pm slot after the latest 2 comedies flopped. It's never going to live up to the 6m/7m it was getting a while back
Didn't it air in the 8pm Thursday slot for its first couple of series when it got 10m a show, before getting the 8.30 Friday slot? Quote:

I think it makes sense actually because most races in the season will air around 1pm, so it's good to get people into the habit. I think the live showing will get great ratings anyway. The Oz race has tended to air about 3/4am, but this year starts at 7am I believe. I think many will be up to watch live - I can't wait! Quote:
Just looking at it now (here it is for anyone who hasn't yet seen):

Will be disappointed if it doesn't clear 7m. Because of the CR and celebrity tagged I pvr'd it and watched it at 10...ending up skipping a lot of it but was entertaining enough Bring on the victims in the real apprentice! |

Sorry to see you go, Polonius.
Hope you enjoy reading still. ![]() As for last night...bad for the big two. ITV must be bracing themselves for the disaster approaching them tomrrow, but Taggart didn't exactly set the world alight. The Bill did ok, Waterloo Road poor but the storylines are becoming so far away from the original premise of the show I'm not surprised. As for extending The One Show to an hour, I think personally it'll be a massive mistake, unless they add a chat show element to it. Magazine shows work best in half hour packages, extending it will over expose it I think. I guess with EastEnders being in the 8pm slot it opens up the 8.30pm slot for the comedies on every weekday minus Wednesday. But still think it's a lazy move from a channel who should be trying harder against ITV's soaps. |

Will be disappointed if it doesn't clear 7m. The thread was down in posts quite a fair bit too. During series 4, it was getting 30 or so pages per episode. If the population was made up soley of DSers then last night would have got around (based on pages per million) 3.44 mil viewers. Luckily and hopefully, we're not that representitive. |

I doubt it will, the promotion was a bit rubbish.

I saw loads of trailers for this on BBC1 at various times of the day, I'm surprised to hear people say that they didn't see many trailers for it.
Plus the show is so well established now that I don't think it even needs that much promotion these days. I'm sure it did brilliantly. |
