Damn, I never realised the BBC's regional news gets nearly double that of ITV's.
I think 6-7m is fairly typical - the BBC Regional News at 6.30 is one of the most consistently popular shows on telly but because of silly old, anti-BBC BARB, the slot never gets the recognition it deserves.

That said, BBC1's Top 30 would be a bit boring with up to 15 news programmes, or more, every week...

Trinny and Susannah's move to ITV was presumably motivated by the ratings they were getting at the BBC and maybe to keep them off the BBC.This has happened a number of times through the decades, but, more often than not the shine is knocked off the format and the show is seen in a different light-in the case of T and S its hardly seen at all.
A cautionary tale, but a lesson never learnt.
Yes, I think What Not to Wear was getting anything between 5m and 9m on BBC1, so it's not difficult to see why ITV were so intent on stealing them. But as Chris says, so often taking ITV's shilling has been the kiss of death to the careers of BBC stars, even Morecambe & Wise turned crap when they went to ITV.

Do we think C4 will beat BBC1 and ITV1 again in the 9pm slot tonight?

I think it's very possible.

Stockwell wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but nevertheless, I'm sure it could bag around 3-4m, maybe more, following the lead-in from The Bill.

I hope Waterloo Road is up, as it's a show that I feel is taking Grange Hill into the 21st century. BBC1 could have made Grange Hill into a primetime programme though, and still could following the popularity of Waterloo Road. Of course, 2 programmes on one channel from a school setting wouldn't be great, but if Waterloo Road was axed, I'd definitely consider bringing back Grange Hill into an 8pm slot.

The Bill should perform steadily with around 5/5.5m viewers with a 20/25% share, like it always does. I think tonight's share should be higher, that's if Waterloo Road tanks. But, also, it could drop because of the Carling Cup action on Sky Sports, which would've taken around 500K of men.

BBC1's 9pm show looks destined to fall below 4m though, as factual shows in a series can never be relied on for consistency. Perhaps ITV might edge it with Stockwell.

I'm expecting 10 million for Corrie, and over 7.5m for Emmerdale, but it might be just below that.

The one thing I've noticed is, Corrie has been hitting 10 million viewers consistently from 7:30pm, sometimes in the high tens. But at 8:30pm, especially on Friday's, Corrie goes down to around 9m. And on Monday, according to DS, it went down to under 9m, which is not great for a show grabbing over 10m an hour beforehand.

Therefore, ITV need to take a good look at themselves, and for the future of the show, they should slot it in exactly the same place every week, that's 7:30pm.
The only way to do that is to cut Friday's 8:30pm because it brings down its share and replace it with classic 2 hour dramas for a bit, until ITV can find a permanent Friday line-up, which I feel should be a mix of entertainment (comedy, music, chat).

So, with Corrie on Monday twice, Wednesday, Friday & Sunday, and Emmerdale on weekdays & Sundays without the double on Tuesday, they are going back to how it used to be. Sometimes the 'status quo diem' is not too much of a bad thing, if it works.

For instance, the return of The Krypton Factor had no purpose in my opinion. It was a show stuck in the new computer age, and we've long passed that, and we don't need it, hence its figures.

Also, the idea of Coronation Street moving to Sunday HAS to happen because of football coming regularly to 7:30pm. Did Simon Shaps think of this when he moved Corrie in the first place?

I'd be surprised if Stockwell got much above 3m, in fact I can see a sub-3m figure for it. I think BBC1 will win the hour, with the elephants getting a boost on the football-hit audience last week, but Channel 4 I reckon will sneak second place.

I thought it was very good indeed. Subject matter was fascinating, and I found it very interesting to see how it all unfolded; conflicting somewhat with media reports at the time. It's also the sort of programme which gets people talking which can only be a good thing.

First ITV1 programme apart from Dexter I have watched in full since Christmas. I do hope it won its slot.

Does anyone think ITV's Regional News cuts will have a knock-on effect on other ratings? Not sure exactly when the first round of cuts are happening but I think it's over the next few weeks.

ie, when some regions merge, some people may switch to watching BBC Regional News instead of ITV. This would mean a shift of people from ITV1 to BBC1 for the 6pm to 7pm hour (assuming most people watch one National News programme and one Regional News programme).

So with more people watching BBC1 at 6.57pm and less watching ITV1 at 6.57pm, could this have a knock-on effect on ratings from 7pm onwards?

I'm worried about the fact that:-

A) It was hidden away at 9pm on a Wednesday against some strong competition from across the channels.
B) It had little or no advertising by my reckoning

But, it's a good programme and one ITV can repeat on ITV4 whenever, so it should be good business. I hope this is the direction they move in, but something tells me it should have been on a Monday night.

According to RT, a new Who Do You Think You Are is airing on Monday 2nd February. I had no idea a new series was happening. Has RT made a mistake, as it's rory Bremner, has he done it before or is it new?

It's also on the cover of the Radio Times THIS week, with a "series preview" - ie, it was supposed to start this week so they put it on the cover only for it to be pushed back.

It got a 19% share last week and slipped to 17% this week - I think it's slightly exaggerating to say that it's tanking.

Big Chef takes on Little Chef got 4.16m.

Quite glad - was a good little series. Even if it was a bit too faked.

That is very good.

For all it's flaws it was still enjoyable.

Good idea to have it over three consecutive nights - I imagine the ratings built through word of mouth.

Good god, thats a shocker!

I wonder why on earth thats happened? Clearly peoples desire for a drama so soon after the event was a bit misjudged. How well was it promoted?

Big Chef takes on Little Chef has done very good business for Channel 4 this week - who'd have thought a few years ago, that another Channel 4 show would be topping Big Brother three nights running - and easily too.

Waterloo Road continues to struggle on Wednesday's for BBC One. On one hand, I suppose their keen to try to use it to salvage what is pretty much their worst performing (non-soap clashing) primetime slot of the week, but they run serious risk of damaging a popular drama long term.

Well I see a fair bit of ITV stuff, and never saw it promoted once. Really, ITV should give up on factual as a genre the figures are woeful.

It doesn't bode well that they intend to spend more on factual this year as it's cheaper to produce. It's the big weak link in their schedule right now. Tuesdays in particular need a shake up, they'd be better showing more drama repeats.

Strong figures for The Bill against Waterloo Road mind.
