It got a 19% share last week and slipped to 17% this week - I think it's slightly exaggerating to say that it's tanking.
It's a good show but is patently in the wrong place. |

06:00… Breakfast…1.19m (32.4%)
06:00… GMTV…1.0m (26.7%) It would be interesting to see how Channel 4 do at that time. I'm expecting BBC2 and five to be extremely low given they both show kids TV. |

Well I see a fair bit of ITV stuff, and never saw it promoted once. Really, ITV should give up on factual as a genre.
You, like most of the country, assumed it was another crappy ITV documentary. It was drama apparently. I never saw an advert, but then STV dont seem to advertise many shows anymore. |

Good god, thats a shocker!
![]() I wonder why on earth thats happened? Clearly peoples desire for a drama so soon after the event was a bit misjudged. How well was it promoted? There were no new facts in the program and what happened has already been well documented. That and it was on ITV, so my first though was which ex-soap stars are in it? |

I think thats the worst ever.
1. Wed 21/1/09: 1.42m (6.8%) 2. Thu 9/10/08: 1.43m (7.5%) 3. Thu 2/10/08: 1.48m (7.8%) 4. Wed 13/8/08: 1.48m (8.0%) 5. Wed 24/9/08: 1.53m (8.1%) Wednesdays and Thursdays are always the low ones for some reason. |

Poor for Waterloo Road. I was hoping it would have increased its figures slightly for this week. If the BBC are happy with it performing on their usually weak Wednesday night schedule then fair enough, but if they want it top 5 million, they need to move it back to Thursdays.
I was surprised by those ratings for Stockwell. I thought it would have got 3 million + at least but that figure is awful and has to be one of the worst primetime ratings ever? |

Waterloo Road is just suffering from not having the EastEnders lead in.
But the comedies needed that. I dont think 4m is a disaster for that slot - its quite good. |

Wow.... bad ratings last night.
Horrid for ITV. ![]() Well... they never promoted it... so can't say I'm not surprised. 18:00 to 19:00 Shares - estimate BBC One - 27.35% (Tuesday: 32%) ITV1 - 18.5% (Tuesday: 18.15%) Channel 4 - 9.8% (Tuesday: 9.1%) BBC Two - 9.35% (Tuesday: 7.25%) five - 4.45% (Tuesday: 4.25%) 19:00 to 22:00 Shares - estimate ITV1 - 21.98% (Tuesday: 15.86%) BBC One - 17.9% (Tuesday: 20.38%) Channel 4 - 10.46% (Tuesday: 10.2%) BBC Two - 7.92% (Tuesday: 10%) five - 6.18% (Tuesday: 7.63%) OK... I say "horrid" for ITV1, but they did win the Primetime Shares!

A 17% share for a well established primetime drama is poor. It is dropping week on week too. Where will it be in a few weeks time? 3 million?
It's a good show but is patently in the wrong place. BBC1 have had shows rate much lower in this slot - Little Dorrit was getting much less, and Sky Cops typically only does around 4m. I'm not saying it's a huge success, but I don't think it's a flop to the extent that they need to pull it. |

Broadcast are saying Stockwell is probably ITV's lowest ever audience at 9pm, certainly the lowest since the new ratings sytem in 2001.

Awful ratings for ITV1 with Stockwell coming last in its timeslot, this is just proves yet again that people don't want to watch depressing factual shows. BBC One did fine with The Secret Life of Elephants, Big Chef Takes on Little Chef has proven a huge success for Channel 4, Five did very well with IRT and The Contracter and BBC Two did well with The City Uncovered.
Channel 4 and Five must be happy coming first and second on Tuesday and second and third yesterday. |

I'm not quite sure how ITV got 1.4m in the 9pm slot last night-it was a decent factual drama which was reviewed fairly well, had The Bill inheritance and had fairly weak competition, yet for the second day in a row ITV was beaten by FIVE quite comfortably! At least with the Tuesday schedule everyone knew it was going to rate poorly and the programmes were s***, but yesterday ITV actually had a solid schedule. 6% in primetime is pretty bad. Also ITV could possibly come 4th in its slot tonight. New low for NaT aswell.
Much better than expected for FIVE and they'll be pleased that IRT is stable & that the film premiere beat ITV1 and BBC2. Waterloo Road IS tanking. It keeps dropping viewers week on week and it was only episode three. IRT, Relocation Relocation & The Bill are remaing unaffected by the tough competition and it's BBC1 suffering. Some factual programmes pulled in better than 4m last year and considering I think BBC1 had Waterloo Road in mind for a permanent future on the channel I think there could be some drastic schedule changes moving it back to Thursdays when the comedies finish, because if it drops any lower then BBC have 17 more weeks of it! |

It dropped 0.6m over two weeks, which is a drop, but not a huge one - it's a 13% fall. CSI on Five dropped 0.5m from its first episode to its second, also a 13% fall but in one week - that's an established returning series, but I don't think anyone would say it's "tanking". That's a fairly extreme word. |

IRT is doing extremely well holding onto its audience for the third week and Five now have shows at 8pm on weekdays that pull in 1m aside from Fifth Gear and Police Interceptors which is a repeat. |

War of the Worlds on BBC3 had 1.2m (6%) from 9pm. Not far off from beating ITV1.

![]() On the subject of Stockwell even though it got a poor rating I sincerely hope that the main channels continue to do these types of shows from time to time. |

I've just watched the first episode of Five's new Minder; pretty desperate stuff really. I just can't see who it's aimed at. Fans of the original will think it a travesty; fans of gritty drama will find it wanting in that department; fans of good comedy/dramas, a la Hustle, will cringe at the pat writing....it's one for die-hard Shane Richie or Archie Moon fans only methinks. Not sure if that's much of a recommendation.
It'll be another Joey for Five (fab ratings at the start and then a steady decline) unless it's scheduled against weak opposition. |

Maybe, but 3.4m for FIVE is a lot better for them than 4.0m is for BBC1.
My point, ultimately, is that Waterloo Road, while down a little year-on-year, is by no means flopping in that slot, and unless it continues to drop at the same rate I don't think they should move it. |

Yes, which is why nobody would say it was tanking, but as the decline is proportionally the same, I don't see the difference - the word "tanking", to me, implies a rapid deterioration.
My point, ultimately, is that Waterloo Road, while down a little year-on-year, is by no means flopping in that slot, and unless it continues to drop at the same rate I don't think they should move it. -It's down on the slot average of last year. -That rating last night will fail to make BBC1's top 30. -Down around a million on last years series. -Over a million behind The Bill. -Getting 1* reviews in some places. It's showing many signs of flopping and it doesn't look good for the show. It is a fantastic show and I hope the BBC realise it, but I just don't think 4m for a BBC Drama warrants it another series. Not many BBC dramas would get a recomission with that kind of figure. |
