Nice to see Emmerdale was still comfortably ahead of The One Show though.

Huge ratings all round last night
![]() ![]() Whitechappel seems to have debuted well and even minus the snow looks like another 6-7m drama for ITV. On the BBC's scheduling, I can see peoples point, but WDYTYA clearly did a good job of sustaining plenty of viewers in the 9pm slot. I think its BBC Two who deserve the scheduling idiocy award - who thought it was a good idea to launch against a Monday Night thriller?! Incredible figures for the news, especially the regional on BBC One at 6.30! ![]() Also an honourable mention to The One Show and Watchdog. Record ratings for TOS, boosted no doubt by the fact its live and topical. And Watchdog got massive ratings up against Corrie. Even discarding the snow effect on the overall figure, a share of 22% is very impressive. |

Some crazy ratings last night ! 9 million for BBC Regional News, The One Show over 6m, Five News getting best rating since 2005, neraly 6m for Watchdosm, 32.7m people watching tv at 9pm, soaps and Whitechapel hitting huge ratings, etc. I don't think we'll see anything like this again.Quote:

... Please comment if there are any inaccuracies - I think there maybe one or two. ![]() I don't think Regional News will be given an official rating because it's "regional". Also, Six O'Clock News might be in there with 7.1m due it being different from the Ten O'Clock News (depends if you count it both as the same thing or not) .

Wow, great night!
ITV have found a nice little setup with dramas at 9pm, they really are a force to be reckoned with, with that. |

Is regional news justified when it's regularly pulling a total of 9 million viewers? Definitely.
ITV's regional news got over 5m, but it was of course News at Ten which got its highest audience ever, despite being nearly 3 million behind BBC News at 10 ![]() Thanks for the all day report DMN ,I bet Jeremy Kyle got AWESOME figures, think of all the workers who decided to stay in. It's nice to know that in snow and bad weather, BBC1 and ITV1 are the safest place to be with their undoubted superiority in programming, especially last night, which had a great mix. |

Australian Ratings - Sunday 1st February
I didn't do an update yesterday, but here are the main ratings from Sunday:
Seven Seven News 2,008,000 Australian Open 2009 Men's Final Introduction 1,622,000 Australian Open 2009 Men's Final 2,246,000 Australian Open 2009 Men's Final Presentation 911,000 Nine Nine News Sunday 1,251,000 One Day Cricket - Australia v New Zealand Game 1 Session 1 1,124,000 One Day Cricket - Australia v New Zealand Game 1 Session 2 929,000 Ten Ten News at Five 896,000 Out of the Blue 266,000 The Biggest Loser Launch 1,156,000 So You Think You Can Dance Australia - Auditions 1 1,306,000 Source: OzTam The ratings period has now started again so networks will start getting more competitive and put out better programmes instead of just mundane repeats. Out of the Blue brought Ten down last night. Does anyone know how it faired over here for its first airing on Fiver? |

The Tennis brilliantly for Seven though not as high the Women's final, the cricket held up well against it and would achieved higher ratings on any other day. Ten did okay to hit 1m for TBL and SYTYCD.
UK ratings wise and the snow turned out to be a blessing in disguise with everyone benefitting one way or another. ITV1 did brilliantly with Whitechapel and if it can hold up then a series seems likely, BBC One did very well with WDYTYA on par with what it gets normally, BBC Two did very well with UC and Masterchef but fell short with Moses Jones. Channel 4 did okay with Backstage Billy and DOND and Channel 4 News hitting higher ratings than usual and Five missed the 1m for FG and Edison but will be pleased with the performance of Five News at 5, Neighbours and H&A doing better than normal. Wil be interesting if the cold weather will help ratings tonight with poor programming from BBC One and ITV1, I think Channel 4 and Five will benefit with slightly increased ratings. |

Nothing really exciting in the 9pm slot tonight!
BBC1 - Traffic Cops BBC2 - Horizon: Cannabis: The Evil Weed? ITV1 - Total Emergency C4 - Boys and Girls Alone FIVE - CSI: Crime Scene Investigation I think its possible either C4 or FIVE could win the slot tonight. Edit - Did not read Jonow's post before I posted this, basically saying the same thing .. sorry .

Woah-I expected ratings to be up, but not by that much! Probably one of the most bizarre set of ratings I've ever seen on this thread with many programmes breaking records!
Fantastic for all the relevant news bulletins, particuarly the 10pm ones which are also up in share aswell as rating. The snow had a huge effect on ratings yesterday it seems. The One Show & Watchdog put in great performances up against the soaps, which in turn will probably have just put in their best rated episodes this year (Emmerdale at least and that figure will probably beat the most watched episode of Emmerdale in 2008). BBC2 also thrived in the 8pm slot averaging over 4m! Panorama, Dispatches & Fifth Gear failed to benefit though. Record breaking numbers for the 9pm slot-almost 33m watching TV at that time on a Monday is madness really! Also I see Home & Away has reclaimed its position as most watched multichannel of the day. Tonight will be very interesting with snowy weather all around still, BUT a very poor offering from many channels. I would suspect viewers will flock to BBC1 with Holby on around 6.5/7m and Traffic Cops on 5.5/6m despite it being a repeat. |

If you mean that, then ITV have done that for years, its nothing new. ITV know Monday night dramas do well so they stick to that formula. If you mean something else then please explain. |
