Brilliant for TV Burp there, its second highest ever audience, and only slightly behind when it aired at 8.15pm in an X Factor sandwich.

Very strong for Takeaway and Bolero, too. I'm very surprised at the rating for Bolero.

Kitchen Nightmares USA did very well, it could do even better in a different slot.
Just awful for Pushing Daisies, ITV will be glad that the show has been cancelled in the US

I think the Colour of Money might do well next week, sandwiched between ITV's hits of TV Burp and Saturday Night Takeaway.

Brilliant for ITV1 on Saturday - but not that good for Friday with Pushing Daisies nearly under 1m.

I do like and rate highly Al Murray. But I don't think he's got 3.5m for anything thusfar. It would be ironic if he got his best figures for what will probably be a lame sketch show.

The Beeb might be well advised to swap round QI and Not Going Out. Whatever BBC1 show at 9 will beat Moving Wallpaper, and QI will probably do better against whatever threat Al Murray poses than NGI will.

I do think Friday night ratings will be poor generally for both networks. But QI and NGI should get a lift with no popular hour long crime drama to compete against.

Brilliant Saturday night for ITV1, I wasn't expecting figures like that for any of the shows.
Saturday Night Takeaway obviously helped the other shows of the night, ITV will be hoping it has that effect on the new quiz show next week

ITV1 had a brilliant night with SNT, Harry Hill and Story of Bolero pulling in 7m, I guess that this is the sort of Saturday Night entertainment that people want and it's certainly works. BBC One did okay with IITWI and Casualty but The Old Guys took a huge hit.

BBC Two did okay with Arena and poorly with Iran and the West, Channel 4 fared well with Grand Designs repeat and Collateral and Five did good with NCIS, CSI:NY and Law & Order

Low figures for Friday, but that's certainly poor for EastEnders with only 8.4. What happened? Maybe the past week revolving round Heather/Dawn/Garry/Minty etc slowly made people switch off..

Trial and Retribution just missing out on 5 million, but it's still pretty decent. It's been a poor series though if you ask me so I'm surprised it's stayed consistent.

Surprised over the knock Casualty recieved yesterday - down to 5.5

It did occur to me last night when the rugby match finished at 7.10 that this would play brilliantly into ITV's hands because BBC1 then had 25 mins of boring rugby analysis. Which was even less of a draw given that England had been robbed of the win.

So, not that surprising really.

What did the rugby get, anyway?

Good ratings for ITV1 with all 3 shows above 7m and almost a 30% share for primetime. The DoI spin-off programme could have been a 3m rating flop so peaking at over 8m viewers is a shock.

The Old Guys is looking like it will be one of BBC1's lowest rating comedies ever. Not Going Out doesn't seem to be picking up a mainstream audience and should possibly be on BBC2.

Al Murray's An Audience With got over 4m not long ago. Also, Happy Hour airs at 10pm and gets 2.5m up against a show similar to it (Jonathan Ross), so I think he has the potential to get 3.5m at 9.30pm. Also, why is the sketch show going to be lame - have you seen any of it?

Also, you seem to be writing off Moving Wallpaper completely, it may improve second time round (it may not, but still ). It's a good show though, so it deserves to improve.

I still think BBC1 could help their comedies by sticking something better than Traffic Cops repeats on at 8.30 as their lead-in. (This programme is so wrong for a Friday night!)

They should move Question Of Sport from 7.30.

Excellent night for ITV, proving that In it to Win it(which is a good show) and Casualty are essentially fall back options when there isnt anything better anywhere else. 7.3 million for the "golden boys" is good but not earth shattering-whether its worth 20 million each is a matter of opinion. There is some negativity on the shows thread and whether we will see many more series in this style is doubtful-but I cant see many viewers returning to Casualty.
As for the Bolero show-T and D have an adoring fanbase I have never fathomed given that Ice Dance isnt exactly a must do activity here, and to me the rating is astonishingly high.

It was the first show of Takeaway so was bound to rate quite high, but there have been a lot of negative comments about last nights show on DS, so Takeaway could take a huge knock next week.

ITV1 did brilliantly last night. Very happy to see TV Burp top the day.

It wasn't much different to last year's series though, and DS is never a good indicator of how well shows will perform tbh. I think a 'huge knock' is overestimating things ever so slightly.

Robbed, what a load of rubbish! It was an excellent and well deserved result.

I can't see it doing that well ratings wise, though.

Dont know, but you are right about the scheduling. Burp is no doubt a good show but its a glorified filler show and perfect for picking up the lost hordes or holding them between event shows.

The thing is, during a series, Takeaway's ratings can take a rollercoaster ride sometimes going up and down from 6million and then flying up to 8 million for no obvious reasons sometimes.

Neither show is getting the audience it deserves - I actually think The Old Guys is quirky and amusing - but both are rating better than some recent ITV1 prime time offerings.

If the "low ratings, stick it on BBC2" suggestion was followed by ITV, then much of ITV1's output would get shunted to ITV2...

Hm, this week it sank to 2.6m against a Dancing on Ice Special which pulled 7m viewers; next week it competes with yet another showing of The Bourne Identity. Which won't pull 7m.

It may claw something back.

One of the writers of NGO, Andrew Collins has joined in the programme's DS forum and he said the show was intended for BBC2 but BBC1 took it on, so BBC1 can't complain if it gets BBC2-sized ratings.

The Old Guys is on against The Bourne Identity next Saturday so it might get back above 3m. Incidentally, anyone know how well - or badly - Omid Djahli's series did on Saturday nights last year.

So looks like it will be 4 consecutive primetime victories for ITV1, Fri, Sat, Sun & Mon. Don't think we've seen that in a while. (before it all falls apart on Tues).

I think what last night tells us is that ITV1 should have made an effort for January when BBC1 was there for the taking. It also sums up ITV just now... from the dreadful ratings for Pushing Daisies to a brilliant Saturday night with 3 shows over 7 million. Whereas BBC1 just stays steady throughout.

I watched some of A&D this afternoon. They're brilliant and the magic that they provide hasn't faded on I'm A Celeb or BGT but this format is floundering. Some of the features were really poor. The 2 best used to be Little Ant & Dec and Undercover which are both gone and nothing has properly replaced them.

This time next week, between A&D and Lets Dance For Comic Relief, we'll probably have about two dozen professional zelebrities on Saturday night TV.

I think it's time Gallowgate TV/ ITV found a new vehicle for A&D.

Yep, I agree with all of that. Takeaway felt very stale last night (although I did rather enjoy Takeaway prison ).

Meanwhile, next week, ITV have extended The Colour of Money to 70 minutes, so that it starts at 6.35pm, 5 minutes before Lets Dance begins. I think they've done it in time to make the listings magazines. A pretty shrewd move if you ask me.
