What version is it - the latest December 2013 update was rolled out so you may have received it late.

You can check if you have the latest version of YouView software by pressing the YouView button on your remote control (Add blue icon), navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘System Information’ > ‘Software Versions’.

For those boxes that have already received the update you will see the following:

Manufacturer Software: 15.11.0
Component Software: 2.1.14
Platform configuration: 712
ISP Configuration: (varies by ISP)

If it is that version, the update has 2 main features –

1) You will be able to record programmes on internet channels- in the same way as recording programmes delivered through the aerial.

2) You can now pause an internet channel as well as skip backwards and forwards

Further information on the YouView Community forum web site (youview.com and follow the "community" links)

As mentioned above, sounds like you received the previous update late. Pushing a new update on 1st Jan when all the technical staff are on leave woulld be extremely unlikely, as there would be no one to sort out any problems in case things went wrong.

A minor firmware update has been issued today for retail Humax boxes (including those not originally supplied by BT but with their logo) Again, this is being rolled out so you may have it later. You can try to force an update via the Settings menu although if your box's ID is not in the tranche(s) authorized to download, this will not work.

The version is apparently 17.2.1 (although that might be an error on the YV support site forum) and the official word is that the changes are:

• Configuration changes to prepare for future updates
• Additional accessibility features
There also appears to have been another minor update as my (retail) box updated to 16.4.1
