This teenager is amazing and I hope that she makes it through. She said she wanted to be a role model for young women, tongue in cheek. Well she is inspirational and she definitely has the x factor.

cant agree with you stegg.....Simon commented that she was the most confident sixteen year old he has ever met. I agree with him. Her hand was shaking though when she spoke. Some folk have come across as arrogant that is aggressive about other folk whereas Mikala was assertive.
So far, Mikalah has gotten on my nerves, and I don't love her voice either. If she can bring it in the semi-finals, I will gladly change my opinion of her.
If she was on Pop Idol or X Factor over here in the UK, she wouldn't last a second. The British public has a knack at putting people, who think they are better than everyone, in their place!

what is it about your fav that you like. Obviously I like Mik's personality [which you dont] and I love her voice. I noticed that her hand was shaking as she spoke to Simon.
I'm obviously not seeing something that you can see.

I didn't think it was so much about her being an over-confident 16 year old, but more her immaturity coming through. On the bits I saw she ended every sentence with 'yeah' and some sort of hand gesture. Plus the bit where she told Simon he was going to her prom was just pathetic and sad!

her immaturity come through...well she is only 16. I think people mix up assertiveness with aggression. Mikala is a breath of fresh air. I wish her well and she is very talented. Perhaps people who find Mikala arrogant feel threatened by her and are a little insecure in themselves.

Steg of course I am serious, why do you ask that.......there is nothing nasty or arrogant about Mikala.......arrogant is when you are dismissive of other folk.........she is a breath of fresh air.........a lot of folk get on by being submissive and bottom lickers, but she has a great voice so hopefully some people will rise above her very confident attitude.

The girl is certainly assertive, and also arrogant.

Definition of assertive - 'positive or confident in a dogmatic way'
She's also a pain in the neck and very irritating.
I mentioned Mikalah’s perceived problems in another thread. I think that she is only a 16 year old girl, probably extremely nervous whilst auditioning, but who has come up with a ‘Plan’. She doesn’t want to get lost in the pack, is entirely aware that there are better singers in the competition and is pushing herself forward to make an impression. The cheekiness and over-confidence pretty adequately mask her nerves. However, she runs the risk of straying from perky and sassy into over-aggressive self-promotion. Her backchat, so far, has been fun and Simon likes that kind of harmless banter.
However, should she get to the semi-final stages and the judges start critiquing her performances, she may lose her cool and alienate the entire audience through being obnoxious and self-opinionated about her own performances (we’ve seen it happen many times before). This is always the point where you see Simon’s expression changed from bored to pissed off (it happened with Lamar/Jamar on last week’s show when he attempted sarcastic humour) and that’s when you know the contestant is dead, dead, dead!! Of course, all this may not happen. She could turn out to be as savvy and street-smart as her act as done so far, and make it all the way to the finals. There are, however, at least 7 or 8 girls that we’ve seen who have much better voices, performance skills and looks than Mikalah. Whilst she’s certainly not a pageant queen, she’s only a few degrees away from that in terms of performance style and sophistication.
IMO, the competition this year needs to move away from the perky teenagers of previous seasons, and embrace the older end of the age limit. It’s unfortunate that, whilst upping the top age limit by 4 years, they didn’t add an extra couple of years to the lower age limit, 18-28 would yield a top class field without any risks of the teen princesses taking over the competition.

The group of three girls were one girl kept forgetting her lines demonstrates arrogance....and people who are overbearingly out for themselves and I hope those two dont go much further, instead of helping their fellow contestant they ostrazised her.
The contest needs someone as young, fresh and outgoing as lovely talented mikala and she has the x factor among the girls. I rather like constantine also.

I bet 'some folk' do, but we're not talking about them. We're discussing one contestant who entered American Idol and subjected herself to the inevitable scrutiny that comes with being on the biggest show in America. If you re-read my post, I never said I didn't like Mikala, in fact on another thread, she's one of my tips for Top 12.

I don't think my criteria for the winner include 'young, fresh and outgoing'. I want talent, pure and simple, plus X-factor (which by it's nature is indefinable). Mikala may have a strong personality which translates well on screen, but I've yet to see hear her sing anything that convinces me she deserves this more than, say, Vonzelle, Nadia or Carrie.

Royal We Steg......? To me arrogance includes being dismissive. These other ladies you mention dont stand out for me as Mikala does it is my opinion that she has the personality as well as the Talent = X factor. If you look at the Movie Phantom of the Opera the leading lady is 16.
