WOW! One of the best female soap actresses, so many layers to the character, so many personalities. She is a soap writer's dream! Cannot wait to see what she will do next! She represents the all change theme over xmas/new year! The next generation are taking over and she is leading the pack!

Thoughts?

Here is her coronation song!

Shes one of my favourites and I agree that she has a certain kind of sinister yet loving flavour about her. Ive always liked strong female characters i.e. Janine, Chrissie and Ronnie.

Speaking of Chrissie, when is she coming out of prison?

I've always loved her, but tonight added to her legacy! Unlike any other character in soap at the moment - fantastic.

I love this new Ronnie! At the end with the ring was brilliant!

Does anyone know when she's back?

After giving up on EE DTC has just lured me back! The last two weeks have been brilliant, I haven't enjoyed EE this much since the 25th birthday week!

I always said she was the toughest woman in Walford, not even Kat comes close.

She's mastered the icy, sinister and spooky act perfectly.

I wouldn't call Ronnie Mitchell a soap legend. She was probably one of the most notorious characters from the Santer years; but her characterisation has been very flawed for a long time now - it's only really recently where the character has found her niche. Between 07' to 2011 she was an extremely troubled woman who let her obvious psychological issues manifest themselves into attempting to control people under the reasoning that she wanted to fulfill her dream of motherhood.

While this was going on TPTB were masquerading Ronnie as some sort of modern-day heroine; an apparently 'strong woman' who overcame her struggles (when she obviously didn't; her sanity evaporated year by year). She was like a walking oxymoron; perhaps only Stacey can compete with her on that one. Ronnie was a character being moulded on 1 idea and presented as a completely different thing.

IMHO, under Santer post 2009 she was someone who did not fulfill her potential as a character and became one-dimensional, and predictable. Her character has only really become the opposite of that now DTC has given her character a clear direction; as a villain. She's certainly one of the most interesting characters on the show now, but IMO we still have to see how her return pans out at the very least before calling her a legend.

I think she has the potential to be a legend though, this darker and more sinister side is definitely making her more fascinating rather than her weeping and moping about all the time. I completely agree about her being one of the most interesting characters on the show and time will reveal how she develops.

Yes, I'd agree with you on that. This 'darker' side to Ronnie could be the making of her character.

So why don't I like her? She still has very strong psychological problems and doesn't seem 'normal' to me. She's a control freak and her idea of looking out for her little sister leaves a lot to be desired. I wouldn't want her living on my street, that's for sure!!

She's always been a villain, it's only now that it's become obvious.

I don't think she always was a villain, she started off as a victim but life has made her hard and cold-hearted.

The life she's had would damage most people to some degree.

I'm not saying it would make them a murderer but her issues have made her the person she is.

Tonight she was amazing. Thought she was going to breakdown. Love how calm she ended up and the look on Phil's face when he seems to realise she has done something.

Ronnie has been my favourite female character since she joined EE. Sam Womack really shows what a p*** poor actress Rita Simons is. But that's not taking anything away from Sam. Time and again she has been robbed of the best actress award at the NTA's by the talentless Jessie Wallace.

I'm so glad that she killed Carl. He was a nasty piece of work. I read somewhere how EE bosses originally offered Danny Dyer the part of Carl but that he turned it down. Such a shame, for the viewers. I think Daniel Coonan should have been cast as Mick Carter. He is a good actor unlike Danny Dyer.

I have loved her ever since she first set foot in the Square. Arguably one of the most iconic characters from the noughties.

I'm enjoying this development.

She came back and we knew they couldn't go back to making her an eternal victim again, but the option of normalising her was too boring an alternative. This is a much better development.

She can keep the crazy, but instead of being the distressed victim, she's now the villain.

Rita Simons hasn't been given an inch the material Sam has to stretch her acting. I'm not saying she'd have been as good or better, but she's not really been given the chance to do much beyond drinking, being naive and shouting. She's certainly not a bad actress. Sam has the character with meaty story lines and real attention paid to character development.

Jessie Wallace is hardly talentless.

A legend for what purpose, being a pretend nasty person

Every time she provoked Carl he got the better of her and she cried. When she had the opportunity, after hitting him over the head of finally getting rid she didn't Why?

She was just lucky with the boot door thing and even then she did that shaky lip scared stuff. She's the worst, weakest, most pathetic villain ever. If she's a legend for this embarrassing interlude as a selfish, jealous, control freak wannabe then I give up.

DTC will ensure the character of Ronnie becomes iconic after the damage Kirkwood did to her with Baby Swap. He did create the character after all.

Agreed. I'd dare say Ronnie is hardly a difficult character to play, anyway. Womack is a perfectly adequate actress but the raving over her performance since Ronnie's return is a bit baffling. Most actors could pull that type of character off and get lauded for it. Stare coldly into the distance and show no emotion; glare at somebody coldly and show no emotion; speak coldly and show no emotion. Not exactly difficult direction to pull off.

Put Womack in a role that is human and animated and 'normal' and she'd be no better than anybody else in the cast - as evidenced in her entire pre-Eastenders career. The unnerving, withdrawn psychopath act isn't really that difficult when the entire purpose is to betray as little emotion as possible - plenty of bog-standard actors have pulled it off in the past and she's not doing anything particularly innovative with it.
