My Westie died last week
MissCeltic
01-01-2014
My Beloved 12 year old West Highland Terrier had to be put to sleep on Friday. He had Westie Lung Disease and he was in pain the night before and we couldn't put him through any more pain. The vet said he would have died in mere days so we were doing the right thing.

My family and myself are beyond devastated and heartbroken.

My thoughts are with you. It feels like just yesterday since I lost my 2. Your wee one was well loved and would have known he held a special place in your heart. Take care. x

MissCeltic,

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how you must be feeling, as our golden Labrador (11 1/2 yrs old) had to be put down in November because he had liver cancer. You absolutely did the right thing (just as we did), your dog is no longer in pain and his suffering is over. It sounds like he was a very much loved pet.

All the best and I'm so sorry again
xx

Oh Miss Celtic - know exactly how you feel - my daughter has Westies and has lost two to this disease. To live to 12 years is pretty good but no consolation when you love a pet so much xxx

You gave him a good life and a good death. You let him go for his own good.

It's all any of us can ask for. It's very upsetting. I've had to do it myself twice.

I'm so sorry for your loss MissCeltic I know there really are no words that will make you feel better, but try and take a little comfort knowing that your little dog had 12 wonderful years with you, and that for all those years of fun, love and enjoyment he gave you, you repaid him by letting him go when he needed it. The hardest, most painful and selfless decision anyone can ever make for a pet is knowing when its time to say goodbye, and it takes strength you didn't know you had to fill that final request. Take care, and I'm sorry again xx
