What does everyone think to Emily, Rita and Audrey?

What did you think to Betty when she was alive?
All 4 been with the show for a long time, but would you consider any of them classic characters?

Are any of them in the same league as say, Peggy, Pat and Dot from EE?

I really don't care for any of them and no, I wouldn't consider them 'classic' characters. Corrie seems to struggle with producing 'classic' characters, no matter what their age.

I did quite like Betty but she was barely in it towards the end. Still, I'd probably consider her and Rita the closest to 'classics'.

All three of them are classic characters, and Betty was too. They've just suffered in recent years by lack of screentime and, especially lately, bad writing - but they're hardly alone in that.

The difference between Pat, Peggy and Dot and Emily, Rita and Audrey is that with the exception of Audrey the EE lot are or were the matriachs of 'big' families which keep sthem in the spotlight or at least on the edge of a major storyline pretty much all the time. Rita still gets to stick her nose into some things courtesy of the children she keeps 'adopting', most recently Tina. Audrey had a good plot with old Nigel Havers ripping everyone off recently and she's still involved now with the fall out from Nick and David's feud but poor Emily has no one to really bring her into the fold and without her own strong stand alone story she is left sipping a sherry in the Rovers and having chats with Rita about her storylines in the Kabin.

I think they are all classic characters in their own way but it seems to be the fiesty characters, particularly women, who become known as legends. Vera Duckworth or Bet Lynch for example and going back a bit Ena Sharples.
