Tasha Lem - River Song?
Explosivo111

Apologies if this has already been discussed but I can't seem to find anything.

'You've been fighting the psychopath inside you your whole life'

To me this sounds a lot like Tasha Lem could possibly be an incarnation of River Song.
Its apparent that her and the doctor have some form of relationship and it would make sense that River would want to become the leader of the papal mainframe considering she was basically made by a splinter section of them, maybe to ensure that a similar thing does not happen again.

She also knew how to fly the TARDIS

Any opinions?

I think she may be but that would be odd if she did it for that reason only for what happened to her happened under her leadership

Not her. Tasha Lem is a walking carcass with a Dalek 'drone' inside her who managed to break her program. When alive she was just another woman with a similar personality to show the Doctor has a type - borderline psychopaths that he could never have a normal relationship with.

So can every single one of his companions since the revival... It's not a clue to anything!

I doubt it's her, as we have seen, or rather been told we've seen, all of the Melody Pond to River Song incarnations. Unless something gets rewritten (which is entirely possible, of course), she is just Tasha Lem.

As Thrombin says, specifically from post 31 onwards after TOTD aired, I believe it was stig who first suggested that Tasha could be River. There was good debate both ways.

I don't understand how Tasha could possibly have been River.

1) Tasha was converted into a part-Dalek entity, which never happened to River and since River ran out of regenerations, how could she become Tasha anyway?
2) Why would River become involved in the Papal Mainframe/the Silence willingly? If that were the case, she would have caused her own creation here by starting off the whole 'Silence Will Fall' thing, something which she would not do because then she would be ensuring her parents' heartache of not being able to raise her (since she'd be basically handing Kovarian the opportunity to kidnap her!).
3) If Tasha was meant to be River, wouldn't Steven Moffat have just written her in somehow? Alex Kingston has said she'll play the role for as long as Steven Moffat wishes after all.
4) Pretty sure River wouldn't say something like "Kiss me when I ask".

And there are probably more counter-arguments. If they wanted River for this story, I'm pretty sure they would've hired Alex Kingston and not invented the Tasha character. More than likely they needed someone they could kill off (the dalek did say that Tasha had died several times) and this couldn't be done with River, whose fate was already laid out way back in series 4.

Tasha's mind pattern might have been used as one of the templates for conditioning Melody Pond.

if it was river they would have used the real river or at least said. although there are similarities why would they go to the effort of using an actress to play a version of river, then never bother to admit it. if they had written it that way it would have been a big near end of ep reveal. just somone similar. end of

This could be true because Orla Brady is credited on TTOTD DVD and when have they ever credited Guest Stars?

Actually quiet a few companions from the classic series could fly it - Adric, Nyssa, Tegan, I seem to remember Sarah Jane fiddled with a few buttons too, probably more that I can't remember.

I just thought Tash Lem could pilot the TARDIS because the story needed her to. One of those throw away moments where little thought went into it. There was a sotry that had to go from A to D via B and C. Logic seems to be a secondary consideration these days.

Which just proves how little of a clue to anything it is!
