They do it with certain other phones so why do you find it strange Samsung comes in for the same treatment?

Generally anything very popular can often come in for a lot of criticism.

See blockbuster movies, tabloid newspapers, TV soaps, popular cars etc etc
I am unaware then of any one criticising phones simply because they are popular, however you and spud seem convinced that is what people are doing here so possibly it is then. Strange for people to do that.

I fail to see how anyone can say stock Android is not the most attractive mobile OS. What is the alternative? iOS, not with ugly version 7. WP8 with it's big ugly tiles? I don't think so. Compared to TW the AOSP look is a piece of art. I put my Nexus 4 next to my wife's Note and my son's S3 and the difference is marked. TW is ugly, bloated, hogs memory and slows down phones. Samsung should be ashamed of it. It doesn't stop people buying their phones though.
Well the original point again was the look of TW compared to stock. Again I fail to see how someone could notice such differences between two versions of android to prevent them actually buying a phone simply for that.

Your other issues aren't actually relevant to the point being made. However I take it you don't like anything other than stock or I expect Nexus phones. Personally I find stock lacking, plain and annoying in comparison to other versions but thats me. I would think that people buy Samsung phones largely for the reason that they are rated as the best phones more often than not.

...64bit is needed. It starts now. Get over it...
I'm using a dual core Core Duo at the moment. It is 32 bit,and that is for my laptop.

Its irrelevant. And even ARM admit 64 bit it brings little like for like speed increase.
Now things like quality screens such as the new 4K TV. We can see that with our very own eyes.

The original point was about the look of TW , I am perplexed how it differs in any real way to stock in appearance. Specifically to turn someone off a phone by that look.

I fail to see how anyone would say stock android is particularly attractive. As for slicker and more polished I would disagree entirely by that is subjective.
TW is ugly to me. Sorry but it is. It's full of disgusting, lurid colours and fake textures, as well as poor imitations of older iOS design elements. It doesn't look good.

Plus Samsung put S-Everything on TW devices, and more often than not, these apps are useless or nowhere near as good as the Google equivalents.

Stock Android just looks cleaner, lighter and far less intrusive than TW. Plus, it is designed by Matias Duarte, the guy responsible for the WebOS UI which was pretty good on Palm devices. I just think it's a more effective UI than TW.

I am not saying you can't prefer it of like it's appearance more that is after all the benefit of android. Much the same way stock is not for me both my last 2 Nexus lasted a week.

And what about that rumoured Samsung new interface, with a choice of designs?

Who can tell me how bad that one is, unseen too?

The Moto G heralded 720p(or less) quality screens being cheap products. Real competition, its good for the consumer.
You're right, I'm sure many suppliers of cheap android phones see the moto g as real competition. That might explain the results samsung warned of today.

However, I don't believe those looking at the S5 (or S4) are the same as those looking at the moto g.

..
Its competition and a mature market. Everyone will need to diversify.
I guess luckily for Samsung, its kitchen hardware already has 'rounded corners'.

I suppose Apple could create a cartel like they did with e-books so everyone could make good cash. What do you think?
An S5 or a G 50% higher in price without even 'Intel Inside'. What do you think?

Well, I wouldn't advocate anyone breaking the law and I'm surprised you are suggesting it.

I would have to see the overall quality and user functionality included with the S5 before I made that decision, but I can see the appeal of the moto g for those at the cheaper end of the market.

iPhones regularly get more criticism - as you know but wish to play dumb. As I said when something becomes popular it get more criticism whether it deserves it or not.

I do agree that it is strange that people do it - but that is life and there are many strange people about.

I have not nor do I recall critucism of the iphone purely because it is popular. Are you saying that is the basis that it is criticised upon then? Nothing to do with say it being an over priced mid range device? Locked down? So on.

I am, yes. Not all the criticism but it is criticised because it's popular.

As many popular things are.

Its always been cricised for a reason, whether very expensive compared to similar devices, the locked garden Apple tax etc etc.

You could criticize Android stuff for its opens system etc, or maybe lack of DRM making things difficult.

But we always end up with 'feel'.

Ah not just because it is popular then which seemed to be the point being made but also because it is rubbish

I would put it more down to envy or some sort of social deficiency.

Why else would people who don't even own the device spend so much of their time talking about it. Maybe they feel they need to be part of a gang.

I think that is a big part - people like to 'belong'. Look at football supporters for a good example of where common sense views often disappear.

As a lifelong supporter of my local team, I can only agree with you

I am sure your performance on these forums would get you at least an honoury status. Besides I am sure there are a few fully paid up members on here that could pull some strings for you

Who is Hugh

I'm already a fully paid up member of the apple owners gang

Also a paid up member of the samsung owners gang

And although not knowingly a paid up member of the google gang, I'm sure they have made money from my data somehow

That must almost make me a crime lord.

You have had your samsung and google membership revoked a long time ago.

If Tim Cook ever had a love child he could have hoped for nothing more than you
